This game is worthy of it TBH...
Even though I can't fly to save my life since getting a new stick for xmas, and am dying more often than Dak (Well, nearly - when he's got his control cables anyhow ), and have a crappy connection that is running at speeds worse than ISDN even though I'm paying for 1mbit, meaning I'm lagging everywhere...I'm still coming back for more ![]() Can't help myself, and soon, very soon, I'm going to be able to fly properly again ![]() Then they'll be scared, hell, rafaeli will be scared ![]() As you've read the FAQ's etc, you probably realise that this game ISN'T easy. Don't expect to be killing people and owning servers like you can on CS even when a noob - it just doesn't happen on this game. It is too, real. Real means dedication, big time if you want to get good. You will go through ups and downs in this recreation of war. You will die, a lot - just like pilots back then. But you will eventually make others die, hopefully a lot ![]() We play FB+AEP+PF (Forgotten Battles, Aces Expansion and Pacific Fighters) - so to play with us online you will need to buy all 3, but you should be able to pick up FB/AEP for cheap and have a play around with that to see if you do like it first. As PF is the latest it is the most expensive, so I don't recommend you buy that and then find out you don't like the game. That Cyborg Evo is good, very good for beginners ![]() Enjoy the game

Well....enter the lions den and escape with your heart intact if you can
![]() I would suggest that....you get Forgotten Battles and Aces Expansion and play it for 1 week. Quick mission Builder is good, even the single player campaign mode is good, but the frist few/many hours will simply be learning not to crash ![]() THEN after a week of laughing and crying, order PF and await it arriving and carry on playing FB+AEP on your own. Apart from anything we need to help you with patches. If you fall for it, as we all have, you will watch war documentaries on tely, read books, and look up at flying past planes and you'll reaslise what the boysand girls did for us in war . Changes your life tbh...for the good. |

good good.. i play wargames like the GW series seriously so i have no problem putting in the effort (reading 500+ pages then spending like 2 months on the net before i was ready to play properly) .. previously my only expenience with flight sims was a brief play around with combat flight simulator 3 before it had to be untinstalled as my current system only has a 30gb hard drive . Roll on the stat of febuary.. (oredering pc end of jan then broke for a few weeks to buy games) i guees i'll try fb's and the aces expansion firt then when i have more money buy pacific assualt (only 16 so money is a big prob) so i'll probably be ready to go online in like mid-febuary when i've done the single player and developed some basic skillz.. will let you know how i get on. First things first though i have to get my own PC. cuurently writing from a 1gz athlon...

But I was watching war films and documentaries long before this! It really is addictive. You can find yourself thinking of new moves and tactics whilst daydreaming. Sad really, but very good.

![]() Is IL-2 memory scalable ... i.e would say 1-2 Gb make a huge difference or is the CPU and GFX also a huge contributing factor ? |

As Zak said... needs lots of memory. the memory helps the thing run properly, the gfx makes it look pretty is just about the long and short of it. I got a gb in mine - it actually ran a bit slower than that with more in, so a gig is plenty enough. But yes, biggest performance boost in game is definitely memory - noticed it a lot going from 512 to 1024...
oh yeah, before you try shooting.. learn how to fly first... this is more real than anything you've ever played before. Really. |

I only REALLY need a joystick for flying... so im gonna try it with mouse & keyboard and if I like it then I can get a decent joypad once I've made my mind up
