Yep - had a flying lesson a couple of months back, took control just after take off and flew the whole lesson until just before touchdown.

Fantastic experience, and the amount that PC flight sims had prepared me was simply amazing.

(Was a bit turbulent though, had trouble keeping the old brekkie down at one point )

Nope, never. I don't really like flying at all to be honest let alone flying the plane my self. Still yet to go on a jet plane, every plane I have been on has been a prop plane.

Off to Majorca for a stag do in 2 weeks, so that will be my first time on a jet plane.

Before take off in a big Boeing, I have this unbelievable feeling fo wanting to stand up and scream......

The brakes are on....the engines go to MAX.....the bugger shakes...and then you get pushed back HARD and it is sexual

And here is the WILDEST BIT......the first time I went up in a 757 , I got very weird things going on in my head.....and I didnt know WHY , but I wanted it to lurch me forward and then push me back again....

in fact....I wanted the Pilot to CHANGE GEAR.... and he didn't...the thrust just went on and on

    It is HEAVENLY

You know the real reason that they strap you into those big planes?

Forget about the physics of lift etc etc, something that weighs a couple hundred tons just DOESNT fly... they strap you in so your belief that it has to fly or you'll die a horrible death at the end of the runway literally WILL it into the air...

Thats why they've banned getting too drunk on planes, you lose concentration and the plane loses lift.. ever noticed how a plane with a drunk passenger always has to make an emergency landing?

    Think about it....

Please don't start, I am already getting quite nervous about going and it's still 2 weeks away.

The worst experience I have had in a plane was in a little twin prop jobbie going to Endovien in Holland for a music festival. There were more staff on the plane than passengers and I was stick that many times the air stuedess gave me a black back as she was getting fed up with keep changing my sick bag, I filled 5 before she gave me the black bag

The trip back though was very enjoyable indeed. It was the same plane again but this time the ride seemed a lot smoother and when we came in over London it was nice looking at all the landmarks from the air

Thats us down here willing them not to land on our heads.... and the recipients of the cargo willing their goods to arrive... or pilots with REALLY strong powers of belief.

If you want a weird sensation, sit at the back of somthing like a 757, a 737 will work to but 757's are longer. When they rotate the plane at take off, you go down before you go up... it's a very odd feeling, you also get to look all the way up to the cockpit and it looks ubelivably far up.

I hope to take up gliding sometime soon. £600 to go solo. Powered flight is too expensive.

Gliding is only £5 for a launch and then a couple of quid an hour. Membership is about £80 a year I think. Even a glider only costs about £20k
