Getting IL2 expanded and Lock on question

I've now ordered 3 expansions for IL2 so i should be able to come and join you guys online. (FB from ebay 3.20, aces 9.50 and PF 17.95 from mx2). While i was there i saw Lock on for 4.99. Is there only one "Lock on" = "Lock on MAC" or was there a previous version thats just called "Lock on". Coz for a fiver its great, but i don't want to buy an older game by mistake

P.S. Its all yamangmans fault that I am getting this.

There's only been one version of Lock On - Lock On: Modern Air Combat - or LO:MAC for short

Also the 3 expansions isn't kinda right - FB is a standalone game and Aces and PF go over the top of FB, IL2 the original doesn't work with them and is the older version

You'll need a joystick to enjoy the games properly - £30 gets you a very good starter stick, Saitek Cyborg Evo is a good choice. You can go down to your local PC World and have a play around too, and, strangely, their prices aren't too bad for joysticks either

Yeah, I've got a saitek evo. Had IL2 original for a while, although i haven't played it for ages. I might buy that Lock on too then. Only a fiver.

Ohhhh, right where it hurts. Nasty man. After install you will need the latest patch (4.03m) too, around 100Mb I think, and make sure you get the 1.02 patch for LOMAC too, thats around 30Mb.

I haven't bought lomac in the end. Its only 4.99, i know, but i've spent tonnes to get il2 sorted (3.20+17.95+16.98=37.13) and then there's gtr(17.99), wow(29.99) a new printer (100 qith odd bits thrown in) and tickets to go home in may (600+quid for 2). As you see - i can't afford 4.99 at the moment

I'll patch it tonight, you'll have to show me the ropes serverwise.

Sure will. Get the hang of the game first and then push towards flying "full real with speedbar". This is the way most of us fly now. That should take you a week or two (or month or two if you are li8ke me )

I've been playing il2 on and off for a while now (with some FB just in the last week). Only unreal things I use are some lables and map things and unlimited ammo (simply coz i cba to circle round empty hoping that my comrades will take care of that last bomber). Not sure what you mean by the speedbar though.

the speedbar is the small red writing in the bottom left corner of the screen - shows IAS (indicated airspeed), Heading and Altitude. we try and fly with out icons or the map thingies either. Absolutely impossible to start with, but then it just suddenly clicks and you can locate yourself fairly quickly by looking out of the window

Ah, thought thats what it was. The campaign i am doing atm has no map thingies but does write out which side the plane is on the screen, but i normally get close enough to them before i shoot to see the side markings. Suppose it would save time if you knew you don't have to get on the six of your temmate to check that its really him
