Third Wire Productions next in their line of jet combat games, Wings Over Europe has officially gone Gold!
It's expected in US stores in a few weeks but details of European distribution have still to be released.

    Holy Moly!! Looks interesting.

She was half woman, half fish. Terrible in the kitchen, but a bloody good swimmer.

It's a "lite" sim - definitely not arcade but nor is it F4:AF or LOMAC.
Easy to get into & fun but MP is pretty basic (at least on the existing games).
Hugely configurable & moddable - SimHQ's forum is the main community board.

You can also do a merged install with Wings Over Vietnam

Ahhh sim Hq, don't go there much these days since the moderators went crazy

Anyways, I have to say this DOES look good , StrikeFighters was only good for a few hours on my Hard Drive, then it got far too samey and repetitive, the fictional terrain, fugly sea and very limited avionics kind of killed it for me. WOV wasn't much of an improvement either, if they can deliver what SFP1 and WOV failed to deliver, I'll be queuing for a copy

they aren't that bad given that the aircraft of the era portrayed didn't have much & when they did it often took a second, highly-trained crewman to operate them...
    Simplified yes, limited no

I think I forgot to mention how much of a blast I've been having since I reinstalled WOV recently after you posted those shots, there are some seriously high quality jets that have appeared over the last year or so, the F-15s/ F-14s/F-18s and Mirages over on Column5's site are absolutely superb.

The newer weapons packs are awesome as well

Blimey, this has come a long way

Kewl - I'm going to pre-order this one

I've always felt that the series lacked a little with things to do in missions, but with all the new avionics stuff this looks like a killer sim in the making.

That Tomcat is a ruddy beauty too
