DoD: Source
So what does everyone think of Day Of Defeat: Source?
atm I am indifferent, seeing as how when I tried to play it on the freeweek end my PC didn't like it... then found out later that I needed to update my gfx drivers ![]() So... as of yet I am actually yet to play it, looks nice though, and I've heard options of other DoD players I know, some liked it, some didn't. I was just wondering the opinion of people who have more time to write.... rather than trying to play the game as well ![]() Thanks, Rob |

Love it. Have been playing the various versions of DoD for around 5 years, and I find the current version the best for my gameplay style. I tend to play 32 player servers, and try and find ones with admin online. DoD can be frustrating if your side isnt playing as a team, as you just wont be able to break the enemy down. Some of teh custom maps are brilliant, and teh better ones sometimes make it in to the offical release. I play as Flibb[OWP] have been on dauk and band of beavers recently.

Well, have to say, I have heard mostly good things, and the people who have said that they didn't like it only say that becuase they don't like the way it plays (if tyou know what I mean). One friend said it was too easy to kill people, like with the automatics, he said they were a little too accurate or something.
Still wanna play for myself though, as the saying goes, don't knock it till you've tried it ![]() |

Played that and then Red Orchestra. Frankly i think Red Orchestra is far more intense because it feels alot more realistic - far more unforgiving but i like the tension.

Red ORchestra was a free Mod for UT2004 and they bearly changed it for steam and started making money out of it. I am gutted that I bought it hoping it would be improved. It's a hardcore ww2 game and requires a LOT of patience.
DOD plays roughly the same speed speed as CSS but you dont spend as much time dead. You can pick a gun, run in to try and get a flag and die, then respawn and do it again. Or, you can defend a flag with a heavy MG or sniper rifle... You can play it however you want and when I find a good server with a good even battle going on I just love it!!! I play on the O.C. clan server, and they are excelent admins and have a lot of great custom maps. These are not silly looking custom maps like in CS, they are properly done and some like churchyard are better than the real maps. |

I just get the opinion that whenever Valve get their hands on a product and go commercial with it, they always dumb it down for the low end of the market, hence infuriating the people that made it popular in the first place. I haven't really enjoyed DOD since beta 2.1 in all honesty. Omaha Beach was the best map ever.

I didn't really think much of DoD when I played the free weekend, just another WWII shooter to me, I'll stick with CoD 2 for now.

i liked it when i gave it a go a while back when it got released. i ahvent played it much since then as i couldnt run it too well before, and that spoils the game for me. i tried to redownload it actually yesterday, but it got to 91% and now steam just maxes my cpu and then crashes itself everytime i try to start it up

there are a few issues I have with it
1. sometimes teams become unbalenced (skill wise) 2. It promotes camping 3. You have to rely on team mates to do the right thing and they tend not to 4. Bomb maps can become a nightmare |

Try these
195.242.236.165:27015 195.242.236.165:27030 83.142.230.110:27015 195.242.236.212:27045 85.131.223.3:27015 88.198.218.221:27015 OC CLan 217.163.10.72:27015 Some of the above are custom map servers, so might take a while to download the maps. Have fun |
