Well, someone posted this as a cheaper alternative. I don't have a webcam, so can't tell if it's any good. Still, a webcam is only £10, so I might get one in the future and see how effective it is.

"hatswitch" refers to a small 8-way self centring switch that sits on the top of your joystick and is operated with your thumb. It allows you to look around without taking your hand off the stick (useful) It's call a hat switch cos it usually looks like a little chinese hat ie, a flattened cone shape.

For some reason I always thought HAT was an acronym, didn't occur to me that it looked like a hat

Seriously thinking about getting the X52, if just for those trim wheels! By the time I've spent trimming my bomber straight and level I've gone past the target! It also has a mouse emulator on the throttle that could be useful. It's just that I don't need it....

If you can use a mouse with the other hand and fly....you're as good at Hat (from MA_rlins) who does the same...but it took him over a year to learn.

    Tell you what Nick.....

Do you know how tomake a track in IL-2?

Go into the control menu, find the Record Track option, give it a shotcut (I use Alt R) and then record me a track of a dogfight....doesnt matter if you die or hit anything...but Iwant your best shot.

Then email me (pm me for my email addy) and I'll watch how you look around on your track.
