any easy kills on IL-2?
I've just bought IL-2 Sturmkovic, as i really need to catch up on my combat sims, so i was just wondering if there were any computer controlled planes that you can sneak up behind, shoot the hell out of without getting shot at. its how i got good on original MS CFS, shooting c47 cargo planes
.thanks nick |

Hi Nick
Sorry im late to the thread, got a few tips for you, if you havent worked them out already 1. The worst possible place to shot another plane is from behind. Why? Because it presents the smallest target Plane from behind is ------- From above X X X XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX X XXX 2. IL2 is a combat sim therefore it simulates the actions of movement and gravity. You are shooting bullets from a moving gun platform at a moving target and those bullets with be effected by gravitational drop 3. To combat the above practise deflection shooting, aim ahead and slightly above target, ideally so the target flies into the bullet storm. |

what he said, and make it fast passes.
Actually.......the best at this was Knoxxy who has an amazing inbuilt gyroscope, cos having watched him, he is not a nice man to have shooting at your bomber ![]() Try some different planes youself too, and come up underneath occassionally and aim at wing roots. A Hurricane Mk2 C is a 4x20 mm canon monster, but a Hurrican Mk2 B has 12 .303 machine guns, and god as they sound, the 4 canons does it for me, Try the uber Yak 9 K which has a single 45 mm canon firing through through the propellor hub, and whilst the recoil is horrific the damage is amazing ![]() then try a fast drop and gentle pull out with a FW 190 A9.....this has so much hitting power, and is so fast that the convergance for your guns has to be right out at 400 or 500 metres, cos ytou'll close on the raget so fast you'll be past in a second. And lastly.....and for the most fun....try an I-153 with Rockets under the wings, Set the rockets to explode at 5 seconds even if they dont hit anything, then creep up on the bombers from where ever is safe (very low behind?) AND let then ave a few well positioned, very far in front shots. If you get the rockets to explode NEAR the bomber it WILL die ![]() Lastly......do the honourable thing, grab an IL-2 3M and slowly close from nehind and then let it have both 37 mm canons AND whatever else you're carrying...including geoing over head with AJ-2 cassettes and littering the little monsters on top of the bomber ![]() There is NO game as good or as hard as this ![]() |

No kill is an easy kill - you have to earn them all, and work hard for it. The guys have summed it up pretty much, though get in the P-39, learn how to turn without stalling and love the plain porn that is the nose cannon.

Re best way to attack bombers
Boom and Zoom baby or head on if youve got the balls ![]() In an online coop situation when youve been scrambled and have had to claw height then often coming at them from behind is the only way but if you can get a 1000m + height advantage then dive in on them aiming just ahead and rake the plane top nose to tail, then pull back up using the speed of the dive to regain your energy advantage and go again. IF you can line them up for a head on then aim at cockpit start firing at 600m and pull up and over at last second, break right or left immediatly to put off top gunner, as I said take balls and timing but chuff me its fun |
