LED Spots

I need to get some new spots for a couple of rooms in the house. I think they are GU10's, but I need to check that.

One room in particular (my study) has a dimmer and would really benefit from getting some white light in there. Just had a search about and the price range is quite severe. I'd like come recommendations please

Anywhere I should be getting them? Any particular brands to get or avoid?

I guess colour temperature needs to be taken into account too. I don't want them too cold, but then I can dim them, so that should take some harshness off them.

I bought some recently from LEDHUT as someone here (I can't remember who) suggested them.

They are nice and bright but, I was surprised how hot they get for LED's or maybe that is just the voltage dropper they have built in?

I've had a lot - nowadays I get mine from Hong Kong on ebay. Massively cheaper if you can live with 3 weeks delivery. Check for 'cool white' on the search and you'll get nice bright white as opposed to the - IMO nasty - yellow light of 'warm white'. If you go for day white it'll be a green/blue light a bit like you get on modern car headlights though it isn't quite as powerful a light overall despite the nice effect.

Be warned you won't get as much light off a 3w LED that you will off a std 50w halogen though and it is very focused light (i.e. lights one spot very well, less light in surrounding areas).

Have been toying with idea of moving up to 5w lights. Also I've found the ones with 3 to 5 larger LEDs are a be better than the ones with lots of small LEDs.

Careful on voltage - GU10 are 240v. If you have voltage reducer it is prolly MR16.

I've been looking at Philips ones that claim 5w and 120 degrees of light, which sounds all right to me.

I'll have to check what kind of dimmer is in the room, as there are two types.

Ebay is gonna be your cheapest option but you need to be careful as some sellers will try and mug you off!
You want to grab some genuine Rotundity CREE LED lights as the latest ones come with 100k hours MTBF!!
