I explained my case to the wife as we have a 90 year old bush with a trunk nearly a foot thick and an old pine tree that had to go. Instead of going for a chainsaw I decided to get something I could use for other things such as metalwork.

Quick glance: That doesn't look that big, looks a bit like a large dremel.
Second look: Hmmm, so the handle is bigger than a hand, OK that's a chunky bit of kit! Would make my jigsaw look like a childrens' toy.
I only had hedges to trim back so got a (surprisingly good) battery powered hedge trimmer from Screwfix (as well as a strimmer so a spare battery for long jobs). I didn't plan ahead as when I got tired of cutting loft boards by hand a bought a jigsaw. Still, nice to have more toys

It makes you smile when you use it, if you are cutting thick wood (my 10" pine trunk) you need to rock it up and down to clear the shavings or it doesn't get far (and makes the wood smoke!)Bought the lot, many thanks.................I think

I used to buy the Titan branded stuff ,I still have a 12v drill I use to stir paint as the chucks so loose it's a joke & the hammer action switch just moves around making it's own mind up (batteries last about 8 minutes), the angle grinder blew up, the heat gun stopped heating, the circular saws not able to cut the depth it is rated at. Hence making the jump to bosch blue
I wonder how the titan would stand up to a 10" pine trunk?
I didn't clip the dust box onto my bosch sander & emailed support for the price of a new one, free of charge during the 3 year warranty as they said it must have been faulty if it fell off!!

I get you got it because of being able to keep it for other uses so I'm not going to go down the 'you need a £1500 niche tool to get this screw in properly' path, but woodworking tools are usually sub-optimal for working on green wood, hence the smoking (that on a chainsaw means the chain is badly in need of sharpening).
If it's something you'll be doing a lot of, a Silky hand saw is hard to beat for tree pruning - even branches a few inches thick can be chopped through in a few seconds. Just be careful as they're razor sharp, a gentle tap is enough to draw blood.
Also in case you're not aware of the rules-of-thumb for pruning - don't chop more than 30% of the foliage in one go or you risk killing it, and cut up to but not into the branch knuckle so the tree can scar over properly and not leave a bit of deadwood sticking out.
I have some blades for green wood, this was not green but a thick dead pine trunk that I used it on 1st with the 30cm blade thats just classed as standard, hence it clogging when I didn't work it. And tbh if I wanted another hand tool I would have got one

Yeah that was my point, I wasn't recommending a specific, expensive tool to do one job. And TBH I didn't know about the green wood blades for that saw.
Go on a lot of forums and ask what you should buy to tighten one screw and you'd end up thinking anything but a set of CK VDE screwdrivers and an impact driver as backup was wholly insufficient. xD

Fruit trees will require pruning this winter. They are getting big again.
