I hope they can give nvidia a big kick in the nuts as nvidia are taking it way to easy at mo they are just recycling different G92 chips at the moment

Amen to that. Fun though isn't it? I mean, not so long ago Intel themselves were sitting back on processors and integrated video in chipsets. AMD kicked them into to touch on one and MS on the other (Vista).

While i think giving ATi/Nvidia a kick up the arse is a good thing, i'd much rather Intel focussed on pushing the performance of their integrated chips. So many laptops suffer with decent processors and the now pretty much standard 2gb RAM, but fail miserably on graphics that are intel integrated.

Yeah - if new integrated graphics cards were generally good enough for newer games (say decent enough to give a choice between low resolution / high detail and vice versa) I could imagine the PC gaming market taking off pretty quickly.

Really pleased that AMD have had a half decent crack at the whip with 780G. Intel have needed a good kicking in the integrated department for years. Good platforms should beat fast CPUs for the OEM market.

Btw, I agree with the poster about the quality of Intel's integrated graphics. You'd think they'd get that right before attempting a discrete card.

Network cards and chipsets, wireless cards etc.

They did have a rather large flash memory business, but i think they spun it off.

Well that's cleared things up

I don't doubt Intel have the financial clout to make it happen but seeing as they've traditionally made shedloads out of graphics at the low end of the market I wonder if they're really comitted to high endish discreet graphics. Coupled with their persistant idea that we'll all switch to realtime raytracing on intel trillion core cpus I'm not sure if I see it happening. Or will it be high volume low->mid end parts?
