    AAlU k pakoray

You guys should try this im deadly sure that you guys will love this food. I recommend to all Hexus family to try it once at-least

    • Ingredients:
    1 cup besan (chickpea flour)
    1/2 cup water
    1 teaspoon red chili powder
    2 teaspoons cumin powder
    4 cloves of crushed garlic
    3 inches of crushed ginger
    salt
    2 tablespoons chopped coriander (optional)

    • Method to cook:

    Directions:
1: Add water to the Besan.
2: Besan has a tendency to be very clumpy, so you should add just a few tablespoons at a time to keep the batter smooth.
3: Add the Chilli powder, cumin powder, garlic, ginger, salt and chopped coriander and stir the batter.
4: The potatoes should be sliced very thinly.
5: No thicker than 1/4 of an inch.
6: At this point test one slice of potato in the batter.
7: There should just be a thin coat of batter.
8: Heat the oil in a pan.
9: Use a larger frying pan so that you have more surface area.
10: The oil doesn't need to be too deep since the potato slices are very thin.
11: Dip the potato slices in the batter and fry them till they are golden brown.
12: Remove them from the oil with a slotted spoon and set them on a paper towel for a minute to soak up the excess oil.

and try it will green Chatni.

    Looks yummy!

How many potatoes will this batter and do you think it'll work with wheat flower? I just ask because chickpea flower may require effort to find in the UK.

Nah, DG. Tesco and Sainsbury do it, for a start. Look for Gram Flour. It's the same stuff. Or, as ARr0w mentioned, Besan.

Or, make your own. You could do this in a food processor, but I don't advise it. You can blunt blades pretty quickly. You can (and I do) do it in high-end 'blunt' blenders, like Vitamix or Blendtec. At a price.

You MIGHT get away with small quantities in devices like Nutribullet, but I don't have one and am not sure their 'vortex' design would work with dry goods.

The ideal smaller device would be a spice grinder provided it has steel grinding burrs.

The simplest way is to just buy Gram flour at Tesco, Sainsbury, etc. About £1.80per 500g. Cheaper online, if you can be bothered.

well, my friend. The taste won't be the original. Plus, adding water to Wheat flour makes a sticky form. i don't think it will work with wheat flour.

Very unhealthy. As a chap with Asian roots myself, stay away from deep fried foods like this.

So it's a bit like a tempura batter. I guess it would work with cauliflower florets or sliced carrots. Be interested in trying it with okra. Or sliced onion to make a sort of bahjee (Sp)
