If salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? Or should that be if coke loses its sugariness can it be any good for you?

If you can't taste salt - its an indication that you are severely salt deficient and unless you take salt quickly, coma and death an follow.

To put that in perspective it is a very uncommon situation, but exercising in hot climates can lead to salt deficiency - caused by rehydrating with plain water, which dilutes the salt reserves, so you should rehydrate with an isotonic drink. A friend of mine (a medic) experienced this while cycling in France.

I presume that's because your body is interpreting the sweetness as glucose/fructose and reacting by producing insulin in anticipation of the sugar hit?

That is correct. Anything sweet triggers the brain to send the "release insulin" command and it may even be worsened due to the zero calorie/carb sweetners being up-to 1000 times sweeter than sugar.

Surely that just means you shouldn't drink them after they've been boiled and cooled down? Which isn't the usual manner of drinking them

I've had hot coke but not frozen coke, the sugar content in a can of coke is probably more than the sugar content of an ice lolly.

I used to freeze coke like that when I was smaller Pretty good , pretty much a coke ice cream. But I try to avoid coke altogether these days.

What? I remember having Coke Floats in Mr Boni's in Edinburgh in the very early 80s! Been around for years. Only work with fat coke though. You don't get the same creaminess with Diet.
