    Gigabyte P34G V2 temps

    Any P34G V2 owners here?

What are your temps like on idle and while watching videos? I get idle temps of 50-60c and as high as 70c while watching 1080p video which is a bit too hot for my liking.
Unfortunately there's no way of setting a target temp or fan curve that I know of and setting fan speed to max is way too loud. Gigabyte support are a bit useless

MSI afterburner does not work either, so I cant check for throttling while gaming

70C does seem very high just for watching a 1080p video. My notebook runs a lot cooler than that. Why was there support so bad ?

Fastest response to a question was 2 days, longest was 5-6 days, not tried phones yet so not sure what queue times are like.
Also they seem to only answer part of a question rather than all of it, and they answer it directly without offering further help or advice.

They finally got back to me and want me to contact a service center which requires phoning up, which could be an admission that something may be wrong, but they didn't say it outright.
Will have to wait till Monday to call up as I'm currently on night shifts

How did it go, really value your feedback as this would impact on who I would consider for my next laptop purchase

    Re: Gigabyte P34G V2 temps

There is lots of info and some quick community help with the P34 over on the notebookreview forums (http://forum.notebookreview.com/giga...te-p34-v2.html)

I was trawling the thread before when I was considering buying one.

    Re: Gigabyte P34G V2 temps

Over a hundred pages on that thread, will take a while to read through it.

Unfortunately I have been too busy with work to pursue it any further and I have slowly been loosing interest too. Would be a lot of effort to remove passwords and work VPNs from the system before sending it in, just in case someone has too much free time on their hands over there. Might try calling anyway, but mostly just to create a problem record in case I have more problems in future.

I have had no noticeable framerate drops after about 5 hours of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, not the most demanding game, but not something a weaker laptop could handle either. That was on default settings (think it was high) at 1080p. Gets a bit toasty still, but as long as the room isn't really quiet, max fan speed easily fixes that; though if the room is too quiet, headphones and increased volume drown it out

It is good enough for my current needs, and as I travel with it, I might end up insuring it which should cover any potential thermal damage.
