    Oh how times have changed....

As the 8800 Ultra hits the shelves today it brings with it a hefty price tag.

Coincidence then that today I picked up a copy of a game I used to play ages ago, just for a bit of reminising and to play on my laptop when I have a spare moment (2012 me thinks).

Rise of Nations is its name and it was released in 2003.

As I was sitting here with it installing on my main machine I looked at the back of the box. My oh my how things have changed.

    Recommended Requirements:

Processor: 500mhz (check! quad core at 2.6Ghz)
Memory: 128mb (check! 2GB PC 5400 Corsair XMS)
Sound Card: DX Compatible (check! got HD Audio)
Free HDD Space: 800mb (check! got 117gb free on one, 48GiB, 72GiB, 73GiB and 93Gib on the other drives)
    CD-Rom: 8 Speed (check! 18x DVD RW)
Direct X: 9.0 or higher (check!)

    and finally....

    Graphics Card: 16mb (check! 256mb 7800GTX)

Christ on a bike I sat here and thought thats bascially less than 4 years ago and look where we are now.

Crazy to see the figures like that tbh.

    Matt

    Sometimes a little aint enough...

Yup, I bought a load of games that were cutting edge when they came out, NOLF, Flashpoint, Thief (and their various sequels) and they run on my laptop - back when they came out they wouldn't run on my 2 year old desktop PC...

(laptop is pretty damn good, but you get the idea)
