8Gb RAM and XP 32-bit

i'm planning a new SB build with 8Gb RAM so i was thinking if i installed XP in the meantime before moving onto 7 would there be any danger of damage to the sticks, physically or otherwise?

i know there's a limitation in XP whereby it will show only 3.25Gb even if you have more installed (i currently have 4Gb).

Maybe he/she hasnt bought Windows 7 yet and is wondering if for the meantime, if they install XP (As they may not have the funds to afford Win7) is their RAM going to get damaged.

Thought as much haha. Then your answer is no, it will not physically damage your RAM it will only utilize 3.25GB (I think) of your RAM

i DO have Win 7 but that's tied to this (current) build. i can use XP as my interim OS before i can get a retail Win 7 for the new build.

the total amount of ram xp 32bit will see is 4gb - other addressable things, the graphics card being the main thing but all your other hardware will also use some, depending what you have it's normally around 200mb.

So if you plan to use a a graphics card with 2gb of ram or two 1gb cards in sli/crossfire, then you'll end up with 1.8gb of system ram.
