Dashboard update coming on the 4th of Dec.

    Achievement Junkie

That ‘leaked‘ release date of December 4th ( next week folks!) for the Winter Fall Update has just been confirmed, and on top of that, another feature has slipped out ahead of time, good news. Inside of the new update, it will be made possible to view other people’s Live buddies via the new Friends of Friends feature.

Gamers will now be able to peruse the list of any of their own friends, see who is on it, check and see if they might like to add that person, and send that request away- right from the other persons list. Weird huh? Check out what all this will do, here…

Messaging and game invites will also be available to the cross-friend list crowd, and this doesn’t stop at the console, oh no. Xbox.com will play host to the feature as well. The new option will appear via a new Friends option presented to you on the 360 dashboard and on Xbox.com, and for those of you who like your privacy- worry not, you can set filters. Much like the gamercard setup, you can choose from:

    * Everyone (only available to members 18 and older)
    * Friends only (available to members 13 and older)
    * Blocked (available to all members, and automatic for anyone under the age of 13)

Nice touch Microsoft. The page for the feature is up and running now, sort of, so you can set your level before the update hits if you wish. Anyone think this a cool option? It’s no friend limit extender, but hey- you can’t win all the time.~

    ———————–

“Expand Your Xbox LIVE Network of Pals by browsing the Friends lists of other Xbox LIVE members

New Experience to be made available on December 4th with the Xbox 360 Fall Dashboard Update

Microsoft is making it even easier to expand your Friends network on Xbox LIVE, starting with the Fall Dashboard Update on December 4th. Members will now be able to check out the friends lists of fellow Xbox LIVE members right from the Dashboard. With this new feature, members can find old friends or connect with new ones within the community of more than 8 million people on Xbox LIVE around the globe and send messages and game invites, as well as compare games and Achievements.

With the prevalence of social media websites such as MySpace and FaceBook, this type of capability has largely come to be expected from consumers as a means to relate in an online community. Xbox LIVE continually seeks new ways to better serve the expectations of its members, which often result in enhancements made available for free through the bi-annual Dashboard updates.

When the Fall Dashboard update is distributed on December 4th, the new default setting on Xbox LIVE will be active enabling members to see the Friends lists of other Xbox LIVE members. Members who would like to keep their friends list private can take the following steps to change their settings beginning today:

Log in to Sign In and select one of the three options available for your Gamertag:

    * Everyone (only available to members 18 and older)
    * Friends only (available to members 13 and older)
    * Blocked (available to all members, and automatic for anyone under the age of 13)

Stay tuned for more information about the Xbox 360 Dashboard Update later this month.”

I have wmp11 set to share, went to video section on 360 and chose the share. It needed to download a 'media update' separate from the dash update. A quick install later im streaming divx/xvid without and issues. Why they couldn't have had this feature from the start god only knows.

Stupid it's regular Fable and not Lost Chapters they put up.

What I'd love is if they made it so you could download the game for free if the disk is in your drive or something like that, I don't really want to spend 1200 points on Halo but the disk is pretty scratched up now for some reason.

Hi mate, wondered when you would make it here. I installed the update and the avi update last night. After doing a bit of reading was expecting it not to work with my videos, but suprise suprise all was peachy. Think my old XBMC rig is facing retirement.
