| Streaming video to the 360... maybe old news? As we all know the xBox 360 can play video over a network but can be nighmare with what it chooses to play, the media center is a bit slow at times and if you have Windows Server 2003 etc you have to have a media center to stream it from the server to the 360. I found myself in this problem, windows 2003 server to hold all my films, loads of none compatible videos etc After hours of messing around I came across This It streams video to the 360 from your 2003 server etc, converts video on the fly to WMV so you can play whatever you have and is so easy to setup and you don't need to use the Media Center part of your 360 to play videos, they show up under the "Videos" tab. If you have a Core 2 you can encode 720P video on the fly. It fantastic and turns your 360 into a true standalone media center.... I have to say the 360 is one of the best "big boys toys" ever made! |

| Re: Streaming video to the 360... maybe old news? TVersity seems to do stuff pretty well but doesnt seem to like hd stuff... If transcodes easy to setup and runs from nas the same way as tvarsity does then I might give that a shot... A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. |

| Re: Streaming video to the 360... maybe old news? PITA tbh, might just get an HD card for the shuttle and carry on doing it as I was, at least that way the missus can watch stuff on the shuttle and me n the boy can use the xbox... | Re: Streaming video to the 360... maybe old news? I have a HTPC in the living room on a 37" LCD and a Xbox 360 in the Bedroom on a 32" LCD. In my office I have a couple of servers running FTP, RDP etc and one storage server that holds a central data store, my films are on 2 x 500GB Samsung SP in RAID 1 in this datastore. I can now watch any of my DVDs play any of my music, access my CCTV streams via the 360, HTPC, gaming system and even over my wireless network on the laptop. god like. lol |
