    Xbox 360 sound drop-outs

I have just acquired an Xbox 360 and have it connected to my TV via VGA but am having some grief with the optical output into my receiver, namely that it keeps dropping out, or just not working at all.

Has anyone else experienced this at all? Could it be a dodgy Xbox A/V cable? I don't think the Optical cable is at fault as it's been working flawlessly with my HTPC, I simply unplugged it for use with the Xbox.

It's probably not something that's easily diagnosed but I thought I'd ask anyway!

I get a problem on GTA IV during multiplayer where the sound drops out for a split second using optical out. Not noticed as many problems as you though.

I get this with Guitar Hero, just using the phono output through my amp.
