HD on Xbox 360 but no HDMI?

I've got one of the early Xbox 360's and i've ordered a new 27" monitor that has loads of connectivity options. However my Xbox 360 does not appear to have an HDMI socket. So, how can I get HD output without HDMI? Would I have to use component output?

yeah jus dont plug Yellow in

and its hd and off u go for hours of time that seem like a matter of minutes

With my Dell 2407, I found the VGA lead to give better quality images than the component.

the colorspace is different on vga versus component.better is pretty subjective

just make sure, if you DO use the component lead, that it's flipped to HDTV on the little switch on the plug at the console end

there is rumour of a 3rd party AV connector to get HDMI out of a non-HDMI equipped 360 - Don't know what the quality of the picture would be like though.

There's this but it seems waaay too much to pay for what it does... (considering component displays HD fine)

Also, instead of the official 360 component lead, you could consider one of these:

I got one. Cheap as chips. Will also add optical out. AND it cools your 360 for you.

Not that I use it though - I got the Elite, which comes with official HDMI/Component cables etc.

afaik it kills your 360 faster and boids warranty(iirc from what microsoft said). The fans dont work aswell as internal ones and keep the heat there, its not like you shove case fans on the back of your case outside do you, it can hinder airflow etc. Might be good now but i dont now if its really helping. Just by a cheap component or vga cable.

do they disable the internal fans then? i always assumed they worked together.

no but the fans end up battling against each other (and some of the coolers have the fans in the wrong way around

)

they place extra current draw on the power supply which isn't expected (causing burnouts), and placing two fans of different sizes & speeds ine in front of the other has a negative not positive effect

I've not used it yet (it's still in t he box), but I may experiment with what it does in terms of temperature inside the console...
