Red ring of death - RMA times?
Hi all,
Got the dreaded red ring of death last night whilst playing COD4 - gutted.... Not rang MS yet, any ideas how long it takes to get a replacement in the real world? Also - will they still repair it even if more than 12 months old? Thanks |

No need to ring them any more, you can organise the return through the xbox website.
As Steve said, all 360's have a 3 year warranty covering the RROD. |

I just got one replaced by them.. To my horror it again showed the Red ring while playing a HD DVD.
I kept if off for a few minutes and now I can play games fine again. Haven't got the courage to play HD DVD s any more. Playing them through my PC ![]() |

my brother in laws xbox 360 is on its way out. he gets read errors on disks nearly every night. and has had the red rings once.
hes hoping it will die with the red ring to get it replaced. it has been used very day for the last couple of years. and when its not used for games it been a media centre extender |

Guy I work with had a 360 that "fell off the back of a lorry"........unrelated to the lorry incident it developed the red ring o' death and he didn't want to RMA it.
He sent off for a supposed repair kit. It consisted of some instructions, some screws (or bolts, I forget exactly which but he had to swap the ones holding the heatsink in place with these replacements) and some paste that sounded familiarly like arctic silver.... He followed the instructions and resurrected his 360 in about 30-45 mins, it has been going strong since around xmas when he did the work. Personally, I'd use the RMA service (as I have already done twice!), I was shocked at the speed in which they turned it around. |

Tried calling them to arrange console repair and their helpdesk software was down! Doesn't give much confidence! ![]() |
