VGA or HDMI
I am wondering about getting the best picture.
As I understand it, GTA IV maximum resolution is 720p. I think that 720p = 1280 x 720. This is what I get with my HDMI cable. I also read that with the VGA cable you can get a resolution of 1360 x 768. This would be closer to my monitor's 1440 x 900 resolution. Do you think that I would get a better picture with a VGA cable or does HDMI's pure digital picture have the edge here? |

Re: VGA or HDMI
I've got it on HDMI on my monitor. It looks good. But I just can't put my finger on it.
It kind of feels bit low res. I was thinking that maybe it could be something to do with the fact it may be stretching the image to fit my screen which is widescreen. I'm trying to figure out if I would get an improved image with the VGA cable. It would seem that way, the image wouldn't be stretched, just a black border and more pixel on the screen. Just someone told me HDMI is better. |

Re: VGA or HDMI
It depends on the screen you have some people find vga to look better others hdmi and all 360 runs run 1080p because they get upscalled that isn't there native resolution.

Re: VGA or HDMI
I can run 1080p on my monitor through both HDMI and VGA and both look very good.
I can adjust the sharpness on HDMI connection on the monitor but not on VGA which gives it the edge slightly but i have played so much on both connections i would be happy with one or the other if i had to have just one. |

Re: VGA or HDMI
Scientifically digital will always give better picture than analog.
Also bear in mind you will have to sort out the sound if you did opt for VGA (whereas HDMI will carry the sound signal as well). |

Re: VGA or HDMI
No - it's not. Comparing VHS to DVD is like comparing an Xbox1 on a 14" Green Screen fishbowl monitor to an Xbox360 on HDMI set to 1080P.......
![]() Comparing HDMI to VGA @ 1080p is like comparing...... two expensive DVD players that are very similar :S There's bugger all in it! And i'd put a fiver on 95% of you lot not being able to tell the difference in a proper blind test ![]() Butuz |

It is true i have used both and can barely see a diff. I can tweak the HDMI though and the VGA would eternally switch screen profiles, mid game. Annoying at worst!! |

Re: VGA or HDMI
Sorry if I'm hijacking a bit, but is there a good, cheap, xbox 360 vga lead? I have a madcatz one which has ghosting onscreen. It's hardly surprising, since the last ~20 cm of the cable is barely thicker than a headphone wire.
