What phone should I get? WP7 recommendations?

As above really, my cheapy nokia has decided you can't do anything to do with texting anymore :/

So looks like I need a new phone, and I'm tempted to get something half decent this time.
Absolute max budget is £100, but would rather spend less than £50.

Seen a ZTE blade for £40 which seems like a good deal since I've heard quite good things about it.

ZTE Blade is really good. I've got one and it is highly hackable - check Modaco Zte Blade website it is full of resources.

I am running cyanogen 7.1 and it works a treat. I need to check as it seems there is an ICS release for the Blade.

Having said that I would like to upgrade to the Galaxy S2 (yes S2), but to be honest I cannot justify spending money on that really.

The Huawei looks promising, seems to have similar specs to the HTC Desire?

And yeah, I would far rather spend £40 over £100, not sure if the extra is worth it.

The Huawei is ARM7(it can run flash) and has a larger screen and a faster CPU too. Battery life is also meant to be decent too.

Yeah, seems a rather good deal, may have a Desire HD being offered to me soon aswell.
Just a case of whether it's worth spending the extra monies :/

The Nokia Lumia 710 is around £40 more than the Huawei G300.

If you can get the Lumia 710 when it is on offer again for £110 it is worth it IMHO.

It's more powerful than the huawei, but if the huawei wouldn't lag during normal use (not a big app person) then the extra power isn't really needed.
However I would rather have Windows mobile than android, really like the zune like interface

The Nokia Lumia 710 will be a bit quicker for games as it uses an Adreno 205 GPU as opposed to the Adreno 200 in the Huawei G300. However,the Huawei has a larger screen.

The Nokia also has more onboard storage,ie, 8GB as opposed to 2.5GB on the Huawei.

However,for normal use the Huawei will probably be fine and looks like an HTC One X too.

Mm, if they were the same price there'd be no doubt I'd go for the Lumia.
Only issue being that £100 is still more than I wanted to spend in the first place :/

Accurate though.

My experiences with most mobile OSes is that most of the experience comes from the software, not the hardware - and if money were no object, I wouldn't really be interested in Android's behaviour on a £500 phone, let alone a £50 phone.

Plus I have a friend with a ZTE Blade and she regrets ever replacing her featurephone with it.
