    XDA Orbit

    Anyone have one?

I'm a k750i user and my upgrade is due in a few months. I had a quick look at the XDA Orbit, the phone looks lovely.

I was wondering whats the battery talk time like and if there are any bugs with it.

    Thanks.

It's fantastic! Battery life with normal use is about a week (longer if you don't do much talking). GPS usage does drain the battery a little but it's a LOT more stable than the XDA Exec was. Quidco will give you £35 cash back and the Sat Nav package is well worth getting as the holder is good and the software from my testing is more up to date than TomTom.

That sounds quite good as far as battery life goes.

I had a play with it the other day, I think I'm in love.

    Cant wait for my upgrade.

I really wish Vodafone did something like this - I upgraded from a k750i to a k800i, which I really like, but I didn't get the option of any of these type phones

I did get the option of the p990, but they offered me the k800i for free (bearing in mind this was when they had literally been out 2 or 3 weeks) and wanted somewhere north of £200 for the 990, the choice was a clear one

Hmm, I wonder if that would work in my favour...

Basically, when I switched from BT to Vodafone (BT use T-Mobile and Vodafone's networks) the only way they could port my number was to put me on a business contract with the price plan of the consumer contract I wanted. Come upgrade time I may be able to get one out of them then

It's bigger alright but lacks the features (gps), stability and durability of the Orbit. OK the screen is bigger but tbh i'd not go back!

Good luck with the orange branded version, they held it back as the orange branding software made more of a mess of the unit than usual (My M5000 is still not 100% even with an O2 Rom on it but it is a HELL of a lot better than it was when orange replaced it for the 3rd time). Mind you I admire them for taking the track ball off and cleaning up the front of the 700 a little. Make sure you avoid the TMobile Vario branded version, despite the tarrif being the most attractive (flext) it's had GPRS disabled and the reflash process isn't overly great/refined yet.

You mean WiFi. They have disabled the WiFi and even seasoned HTC device hackers have not been able to activate it. It's a very odd thing for them to do, i really cant see why there was any need, apart from stopping people from using VoIP and not spending money on calls. But i cant see why thats such of an issue, most people dont.
