I'm in the market for a new phone, and I've been looking at what is out there. I can't help, but be totally uninspired by the choice out there. I've the SE W810i and like it. Its a great phone.
I thought there would have to be a newer phone out there that is similiar, but with slightly better specs. However all the new phones just seem either dull or totally over priced. I'd love an iPhone, but its massively overpriced and not got the features it should. The nokia 95 and 81 look good, but there aren't any good deals out there for it. The new SE phones just look dull and there isn't any good deals on them either. The only deal I can find worth going for is the same phone I have now with a new contract(plenty of cashback on it makes it far cheaper than keeping the current one). I was imagining with the iPhone out SE and nokia would be pulling out all the stops but alas no. Is anyone else out there thinking the same as me? |

Re: Really unispired by the mobile phone choice at the moment
Nokia N81 & N95 are great phones. The Samsung F700 is decent with full touch screen and qwerty keyboard.
You can get the 8GB N95 on Vodafone for £35 per month with 300 mins, 250 txt and the data bundle. You also get the phone free which is a plus point always! To get that though you have to take a new number. |

Yeah know the feeling. Just depends what you want from a handset. Be specific and you might find something that meets your needs.
I would say sometimes it's better to choose a phone that's been on market a good 6 months. Because the issues with handset come to light and will maybe get fixed. I'm thinking of grabbing E51. |

Re: Really unispired by the mobile phone choice at the moment
The missus just got the samsung f700, had a little play about with it. Its nice though, and vodafone have a great deal going on where the phone is free and you get some pretty decent bose headphones for free, and a 1gb micro sd card too, all for £30 a month on a 12 month contract.
The touch screen is fairly responsive, I mean its no iPhone, but its a good handset, good build quality too. |

Re: Really unispired by the mobile phone choice at the moment
I dont think the issues with the handsets as it were, more the poor choice of tariffs. Ive just looked round the main 5 networks and am pretty much drawn towards O2's Simplicity - Online 20
£20 is more than I've paid for the last 5 or so years, and gives me less than what I'm used to, but it beats signing up to another 18 month contract which is what everyone is trying to get you to do. I bought an iPhone in the states at the start of December, then promptly sold it, as it's nothing more than a gimmick which tires after a week or so. I'm waiting for the N82 to surface and then its either the N82 or K850 for me. I like the sound of Wifi, but am usually SE through and through. |

Re: Really unispired by the mobile phone choice at the moment
Quite vini I'm used to getting the phone for free, 12month contract and around £15 a month. There is nothing around like that now. I quite fancy going with the same phone I have now SE K810i (new phone obviously) for around £10 a month after cashback. That way when the new iPhone comes out and is a decent price (I can dream can't I) I could always just get that and keep the other contract going.

Re: Really unispired by the mobile phone choice at the moment
I agree the current crop of phones out there is poor. I ended up going for a Neonode N2 and I'm well pleased. Don't think you can get it on contract unfortunately but worth a look if you're after something a bit (very) different.

Re: Really unispired by the mobile phone choice at the moment
i used to hate n95 so much but looking at the choices out there i would agree with everyone else the black n95 is just about the best phone you can get now. i managed to get one for around £260 unlocked (i was lucky) and i absolutely love it. however, i am still waiting to see if and when apple will release iphone 2 which is suppose to have gps function.
the e2save deals are gone for now but they should come back around the end of january again when they want to clear most of their last year's stock so wait around if you can otherwise just ebay it |
