N95 and 6680. N95 is pretty amazing, but hate the fact its got no folder function for the images/videos. The carousel thing is bloody annoying!

Isn't there a file manger you can use in the Tools folder? Also in gallery you should be able to arange your images and pictures into albums which should do the same trick.

That makes you a demanding user compared to me, as I don't even want texting.

I want small, light, decent battery, okay to use, dozen ort so memories, makes calls, receives calls. And that's it. Oh, and cheap.

Its a good thing you don't have a HTC TtyII then, expensive and featuring god awful battery life, its a major downer for me!! Just listening to music and using the net causes the battery life to tumble quite quickly.

    Define god awful?

Cause on mine with just standard texts, and a few calls here and there it can go 3 days without a charge, otherwise I can just about push 2 days, but usually it just goes in the cradle every night so then I dont need to worry about it, the following day.

Do you leave Bluetooth switched on? That has a dramatic effect on battery life I've found. I only switch it on when I actually want to use it and my TytnII lasts several days.

Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it

I got one of these when I was in my 'musthaveeverygadget' frame of mind. I do regret it now though. Next time I get a phone, I'll get a phone through and through.

Having said that, the GPS with google maps is very useful for working out where we are when travelling (we don't have a thoroughbred GPS device, just maps and of course my phone to tell us where we are, lol).

I anticipate technology improvements in the future will mean most mobile phones will have GPS radios in them as well as the 3g / gsm ones.

Having Copilot on my Orbit 2 is a god send.
I never seemed to have my old PDA/GPS with me when I needed it but now its built into my phone I always have it (unless I forget my phone)

I appreciate that a phone with the gubbins all switched on the battery life is going to go down, but I'd like a phone even through regular usage to last more then a few days before needing a charge. Currently the only solution for myself to get decent battery life is to get a battery that sticks out the back like I have on my pda!

Re: What phone do you have?

Playing music on my TyTN II does drain the battery quite a lot faster than I would have thought.

I have a slightly uprated battery in mine, 1600mah vs 1350mah.

What ROM are you using Digit? The radio ROM you use does have a big effect on battery. There is a lot of discussion on XDA-Devs as to which one works best on different networks. Some have better reception for example, but use more power and produce more heat.

Do you get a massive improvement as a result of using it though? Because I do want a massive improvement, playing music really shouldn't be as much of a drain as it is
I'm using radio 1.64.08.21 with the matching dutty hybrid release of the same version.

What do you use for music?

it could be down to the app using far too much processing power to decode the MP3s.

I wonder, do other high end phones, such as the SE Walkman phones and the N95 etc, use the main processor for audio decoding, or do they use a specific DSP for all that? I wouldn't be surprised if it is the audio decoding itself that is using all the power on a WinMob device, are other devices exibit this problem too? I have no idea.

    w880i debranded

    best phone i've every used.

    slim & light
    fast
super battery life (can last a week with low/average use)

    downsides..
rubbish camera / no flash (all phones have bad cameras compared to a decent digicam anyway)

I use the htc audio manager app that came included in dutty's build. My music is in WMA VBR 320 kbps not MP3 could well be part of the problem! I am willing to try out other programs if you can recommend any. Might try a flash to someone elses 6.1 rom soon anyway just to give it a go! Could well be the case that the CPU usage is going up to maximum when music is being played, because I can actually be using 3G for quite a fair old while without affecting battery life as much as playing music!
