Re: iPhone v2...
It looks like they will only be available from O2 and carphone warehouse. No iPhone 2 cracking fun without 18 month 02 contracts, or paying an excess on pay as you go phones.

You won't have to wait until the end of your existing contract either, all you'll need to do is agree to a new 18-month minimum term contract. *Best of all, the new 8GB iPhone won't cost you a penny on our £45 and £75 tariffs. And it's just £99 on our £35 tariff and new £30 tariff. This special early upgrade offer is only available online at o2.co.uk anytime from 11th July until 11th October 2008. What's going to be interesting with the iPhone2 in my eyes is the email integration - they're not really mentioning it in the news - but the V2 has 3G, Exchange-Push capability, Cisco VPN Client, and Remote Policy control. They're pushing it to be a possible business device......

Re: iPhone v2...
I am not sure what to do phone wise at the moment now. I am off contract and wanted an iPhone (once I move to somewhere that has O2 reception- that is in the pipeline!) but would have preferred more that 16gb of memory- I know I am demanding! I am kind of fed up with WM phones as they are generally underpowered for the software and the current software no longer excites me, even in its latest guise. I guess I can just wait until I move and then see what is about, or just go for the iPhone when the time comes!

Re: iPhone v2...
I wonder if we will be able to do what we did with the firesale of the 8GB phones. Get them at the shop, no contract then hack them when we get them home. Or I wonder if they will make you sign up for them there and then.
Apple should have implemented MMS. Its not hard. The camera should have been upgraded too, and allow for micro SD cards just in case. The phone is gorgeous, beautiful screen and features. Although I don't see many businesses implementing it just because of the Exchange connectivity. They are happy with their blackberrys! Comparing it to my N95, its taller and wider. Do I want something that big in my pocket? Plus I'd still be scared of scratching it, or it being nicked. Every time I have deviated away from Nokia as my phone, I have regretted it. Would be nice if I could try one out for a week.

Re: iPhone v2...
For a contract, ie cheap phone, you have to sign up there and then, no activating at home. For the PAYG, no one is sure but perhaps there could be a sim lock etc.

Re: iPhone v2...
Yeah, but you didn't have to when they sold off the old 8GB phones before.
