    iPhone v2...

    Hi All,

I got my iPhone about a month after launch, paid the £269 premium...and have forever been waiting for the SDK to come out...

So, I now hear that the 3G version with GPS is scheduled for launch on the 9th of June. Any chances Carphone warehouse will offer some sort of 'exchange' program?

I'm tied into the O2 18month contract any ways so hope they offer it!

    Thanks

Unlikely that you'll get an upgrade before your 18 months is up.

Apple eh? Making a product obsolete as soon as it's launched. Who'd have thunk it? Bummer.

    Glad I didn't buy one

Same thing in everything in the tech market tbh, wait 6 months and it'll be replaced with something newer/faster/better

true but as price change slaps in the face go, going from a TCO in 4 figures, to £170 is quite some slap in the face. If only they could give you some rebate in a useless currency.

    Why these don't sell

    1. expensive contract
    2. Only on one network

Mr Jobs pledged that the $199 price would be the same across many countries.
Anyone taking bets on whether the UK will be one of "many countries"?

Nope, I bet Apple use their usual 1:1 exchange rate policy

iPhone is now free on selected Pay Monthly tariffs*

There's only one thing better than an iPhone. The new 3G iPhone.

*Best of all, the new 8GB iPhone won't cost you a penny on our £45 and £75 tariffs. And it's just £99 on our £35 tariff and new £30 tariff.

All tariffs include unlimited browsing on your iPhone, unlimited Wi-Fi access, visual voicemail and reduced roaming rates with our International Traveller Service and are subject to a minimum term contract of 18 months.
    Pay Monthly - iPhone - O2

Oh, and apparently, info on pay and go will be arriving "soon"

I also read the comments about it being available on pay as u go, which may be critical as I also read on the Mac User forums that the phones will be activated in store hence possibly removing the options for home cracking, though this may be speculation at this point.

Personally I wouldn't buy an iphone, but its good to see 3G and GPS added and the handset at a sensible price and this will force nokia etc to respond accordingly. Competition in the market is good.

Did anyone see the video clips from the launch on the BBC website?

I swear the crowd cheered louder when Steve announced iphone 3G would have a flush headphone jack than when he announced it would only cost $199!

Do you reckon you'll still be able to buy them from the Apple stores themselves though, they can't tie you into a contract there... opens up all sorts of home based cracking fun!
