Sony Ericsson P990i/Nokia E65 Advice
Need some advice please, I'm thinking of taking out a new Orange contract and opting for the P990i.
http://www.mobiles2yourdoor.co.uk/co...ItemKey=178704 If anyone has or had the phone, please can you offer some advice as how it is for calls and texting (using the keyboard). I currently use an Orange SPV M600 for Sat Nav and for texting and am wondering how much better/different the P990i will be. Second choice is the Nokia E65 but I'm going to miss a keyboard. http://www.mobiles2yourdoor.co.uk/co...ItemKey=208510 Any advice appreciated. |

Re: Sony Ericsson P990i/Nokia E65 Advice
I had a P990i. It must be really long in the tooth now, have they not replaced it yet?
I hardly ever used the keyboard, not easy to type even texts on (unlike the TyTN II I have now with the full width slide out qwerty keyboard), I just used the number pad and T9. I noticed above the tarrif details there is a redemption of £350 giving you 10 months free line rental. Personally I would stay well clear of offers like these. That contract lies with "mobiles2yourdoor" and not with Orange. If anything happens to them you don't get the money and can end up paying a lot more in rental charges too. There has been a lot of these companies going bust in the last few months. Several threads on here too. |

![]() I'm currently on a redemption contract with e2save and thank God haven't had any issues. The above company by the way are part of Phones 4 U Group. |

Re: Sony Ericsson P990i/Nokia E65 Advice
I had a p990i up until about 3months ago. I never really used the keyboard as the keys were too small and I found predictive text faster.
If you want something similar I'd go for a Sony Ericsson p1i. I would consider it the replacement for the p990i. It doesn't have a true qwerty keyboard but it does have a qwerty rocker keyboard. This means you have 2 letters per button and you press them left and right to get the different letters. It takes a little getting used to but it's pretty good after a bit of practice ![]() I have a friend who loves is Sony Ericsson smart phones. He went from a p910i to a p990i and he's now got a p1i. He's very happy with it and uses it like an organiser/diary. |

I work for mobile phones company and personally I wouldnt recommend either P990i or Nokia E65, they both are obsolete now and you have way better phones on the market for cheaper.
I see that mobiles2yourdoor are a part of Phones 4 u, but its not like Phones 4 u is very trust worthy anyway, everyday, I get so many customers who've been mis-sold contracts/phones by Phones4u and sorry to say but when it comes to customer service issues, they shoo you off to the network provider, though its them you bought the original phone from. And although, you're saving the initial 10 months (if thats honestly true ), the remaining 8 months itself is gonna cost you about £280-320. If you're open to different networks, try three (3), they've really improved over the past couple of years and offers you value for your money.Whatever you decide to do, keep us updated...Good luck
