Is there anywhere still offering the old ones that one can unlock easily?

Spoke with CPW support today, since I got no call from my branch and they no longer answer the phones. They are hoping to complete all orders by the 25th so I'm not going to bother calling CPW on a daily basis for now.

As the Spanish say it best, ..."mañana mañana".

As for unlocking the iPhone/3G there is going to a fantastic tool out.

    Quoting Engadget on the scoop,

"iPhone unlocking is a little more cash-intensive now that Apple and AT&T are all contract-happy with the 3G, but it looks like would-be unlockers will have a little more time to save up those pennies -- the erstwhile hackers on the iPhone Dev Team say that while a forthcoming version of the sadly-named Pwnage tool will activate and jailbreak the iPhone 3G, unlocking is taking a little longer than expected, and they don't want to release the code until it's exactly right. The tool still unlocks first-gen iPhones running 2.0 and allows jailbreak apps to co-exist with the App Store, so if you're desperate to unlock right away, we'd say a first-gen unit is your best bet."
    And according to the developers,

"So, currently (when released) PwnageTool 2.0 will support:-

iPhone (1st Gen) with 2.0 - Activated, Unlocked & Jailbroken, (with support for third party applications).

iPod Touch with 2.0 - Activated & Jailbroken, (with support for third party applications).

iPhone (3G) with 2.0 - Activated, Jailbroken (with support for third party applications).

We’ve made some progress on the baseband unlock of the 3G device, but at this point PwnageTool will not support 3G unlocking or BootNeuter on the 3G device. It is, of course supported on the first generation device with 2.0. We’ll push out an update with 3G support if and when it is completed.

As soon as we fix this up and test a bit more we’ll be ready for release, we’ll get back to you with a release schedule soon.

Please loosen that seatbelt slightly while our cabin crew serve you complimentary drinks."

There is, but they're all going for a premium over the previous brand-new price

Got a call and txt from CPW this morning; just collected my 16gb as well. Just about finishing off a full restore...need to go collect an O2 PAYG chip for the old iPhone.

Anyone know if the PAYG packs are given away free by O2??

think you get it for free if you stick a £10 topup on it - something like that

In the process of purchasing one (original model) second hand, and having to pay more than I would've if I'd bought one new a few weeks ago If only I'd got my contract sorted out back then...

    Thanks Recoil

CPW also gave me £20 in-store credit due to the delay of getting the phone for me; will look at getting a screen protector, although I never bothered getting one for my 1st iPhone.

Now, can I please say 'holy crap!' when the 3G was in the dock. My aunt called and the ringtone scared the living crap out of me haha!

The speaker on my old iPhone was NEVER ever this loud, we are talking of a serious boost in maximum volume here, maybe +6 to 9dB?

Wouldn't PAYG be more costly in the long run?
