    Mobile with no external buttons

Does anyone know of a mobile phone handset which has no, (none whatsoever;-), external buttons?

    Thanks in advance.

iPhone has a single button on the front to take you to the main menu. I presume this is also a power button.

If it had no external buttons, how would you switch it on?

Open a flip cover to reveal keyboard and screen and press power button, often the red hang-up key.

Surely just use the lock keypad function? Or am I missing the point?

To lock the keypad you need to press external buttons. Place phone in pocket and get back to work on the building site, bending, stretching, carrying, pushing against things which in turn pushes the external buttons and all sorts of things happen to the phone - mute (you miss calls), make calls (I have had other builders 'call' me unbeknown to them and I can listen to them talking as they work ;-), switch-off phone, etc.

I would just like a phone with no, (not any at all), external buttons!

Well my HTC has many external buttons, but once the device is locked and the screen switched off, no matter what combo of buttons you press and in what order, it does bugger all. The only way to unlock it is to turn the screen on, then tap in your password.

Im also pretty sure theres no phone on the market that has no external buttons. I may be wrong though.

Re: Mobile with no external buttons

Just to clarify, the iphone has 4 "real" buttons:
    Home (front of device)
    Power (top of device)
Volume Up & Down (Left side of device)

It also had 1 "real" switch:
Silent/Ringer (Also on left side of device)

With regards to a phone with no buttons at all I am stumped.

I can't imagine how a phone would function with no buttons at all, surely at least a power button is required.

With the mention of the iphone my mind wandered slightly and I was trying to imagine how a touchscreen device could work without any buttons.

Now I understand that u want a phone which has buttons but that are protected in your pocket ie: inside a flip phone.

However I cannot think of any which do not have volume buttons or at least a power button on the outside.

I remember my friend from Uni had an older Seimens clamshell, with no buttons on the outside if I remember correctly. A quick google brought up these, maybe you could find some of those models still?

Re: Mobile with no external buttons

So just to clarify, are you really after something with no possible way of making or taking a call when a phone is shut, rather than it having no external buttons what-so-ever? Only ask as there will be some which could have external volume buttons but wouldn't allow a call to be answered (ie turn off any key answer).

Also, are you after something newish (eg colour screen, camera etc) or would somethign from yesteryear be ok so long as it's got no buttons at all outside?

If you go to the Virgin site then there are some pretty basic clamshells which look like they have no external buttons.

What about using any phone at all that you like but having it inside a hard case? Surely then no buttons doesn't enter the equation???
