Talk to your service provider. If the phone is locked you will need a payg sim from that service provider, if not, you can get any - however your contract will continue in force until you cancel it - 18 months will be a minimum term, not a fixed length. After 18 months you can cancel witthout penalty - normally with a months notice.

Is YOUR system up to Folding?

There are 10 types of people who understand binary - those that do... and those that don't.

You have to put the cancellation in writing into the provider. It doesn't have to be war and peace, literally just I wish to cancel mobile phone contract on this number (your number). Here you can also request that your number be migrated onto PAYG so you can keep it.

Cancellation letter has to be 30 days notice, be prepared for lots of calls from their retentions team to keep you on contract. Just keep telling them no or they will tie you back in for another set amount of time.

I work for carphone warehouse, is it the commitment you dont like about an 18 months contract? Virgin and T-Mobile are doing some great sim only deals at the moment which means you are on a monthly rolling contract which you can opt out of with 30 days notice at any time. Bit of pay monthly and pay as you go mixed in but much better value still than pay as you go.

Re: i want to switch back to pay as you go

Im on one of the sim only deals.

Dont like Tmobile much, was on their Solo 15. So i was getting 350 minutes and 650 messages. Then i realised i txtd wayy too much, so i looked on their site, saw offers of unlimited messages on the Solo 20 package, along with 550 minutes or something, so i upgraded.

When it came for my allowances to renew, i didnt get it, i was confused, then decided to read the small print on the website, it says offer was only valid until 31st June or something, and i had ordered on the 2nd of July. Needless to say i was pissed off, because i had rang up on the 2nd of July and asked if i would get my unlimited messages, and the woman said yes.

Basically i was misinformed. Why were Tmobile advertising the offer after it had expired, they still had it advertised well into July, and secondly the woman on the phone. Needless to say, i cancelled and went with Orange. What p**sed me off even more is the fact Tmobile brought the offer back a few weeks later until the end of August.

    MORONS!

    Dont trust them!
