Got mine today! Loving it so far. Writing on it now!
One thing I would like to know is how to hide or get rid of the apps I'm not using which are installed by default (eg peep)

Another thing, does anybody know if its possible to set your own ringtone rather than one of the phone defaults. It all seemed so very customizable until I noticed this glaring omission. Same for the message tone as well, can only have one of the presets.

Its not a big thing, but its annoying, I loved my chewbacca message tone on my N95.

Anyone else noticed that if you recieve an email with the email with Wi-fi on it pops up instantly (even if phone is in standby with screen locked) but if you are out of wi fi it will only find it when the phone is being used. (I've only been able to test this on a 2g network)

Is there a way round this or not.

Not too sure about the email pop up, I can test this over 3g for you after 7pm though.

Not sure about the ringtones either but I have a simmilar question if anyone can answer..
I noticed in the application manager that there was a ringtone cutter, does anyone know where this is accessed?

I know if you add it as music and to and select it, then press menu it has a 'set as ringtone' option.

I'll admit though it is pretty poor you can't do it like most phones though.

Just tried the mail thing with 3g on, mailed myself from my laptop and it popped straight onto the phone about 15 seconds after sending.

My Hero went on evilbay a week after I got it. I've explained the lag I experienced and the overall experience for me just felt unfinished and sort of cobbled together. That along with other things such as the very poor camera made me jump ship. I wanted to like it, hopefully in the next year or two it'll be ready for general consumption - at the moment it doesn't feel that way.

    Cheers

I think i figured out what my problem was.

The emails that seem to arrive late are ones that gmail collects from my isp's email so they can take longer before gmail collects them which explains why they seem to be late.

No sign of the update still which i'm sure i read somewhere was also meant to be out on the 1st.

Yeah, well the first bit of "news" on the update really didn't seem legit to me but now there's aparantly been alot of confirmations direct from HTC it looks a little more promising.

Hopefully it'll pop soon and we'll all be smiling.

Does anyone know if the Hero is likely to appear on O2, or is something to do with it competing against the iPhone?

Also, i have heard that if you use one on O2 the 3g does not work, anyone know anything about this?

O2 won't get the Hero - they have the Samsung Galaxy instead

And I've heard about firewall problems on some networks, but I don't remember O2 being mentioned

Has anyone updated to the new optimised firmware yet? I see its now available on xda-developers, hopefully officially soon, and i was wondering if all the lag has gone. If its as smooth as the iPhone now this might just sway me away from the iPhone.

Don't have any lag issues with mine to be even remotely tempted to mess with unofficial firmware at the moment.

I`ve read on the adroind community forums that the new firmware does make the phone loads smoother.

Depending on how long it takes orange to get their ass in gear with the firmware I might have to use one like that
