Re: HTC HERO Arrived today :D Well I spent a good 30mins in the Orange shop playing with the Hero. I liked it. A lot. I can see a huge number of apps that wouldn't ever make it to the iPhone appearing. I love the open nature of it and I have little doubt it would be an almost perfect phone. So why almost? My worries about speed weren't unfounded. After setting a few widgets up it really does slow down. It seems crazy they have given the option to set the phone up in such a way where it really struggles in some situations. For that reason alone, I'm going to stick with my basic SE PAYG phone for the moment and buy a latter android based model I think.

Agreed it's kind of crappy, but if you look at it as a small computer then you kind of expect performance to degrade as more things are open. Of course, if it's a case of opening just a couple of programs and your phone starts crawling then it would seem a bit silly :-) I'd probably take the hit of having to monitor open apps, rather than have them impose limits like the number of things you can have open etc. Possibly a personal preference there. |

Re: HTC HERO Arrived today :D Well my phone has the clocl/ weather widget on the main page open, THe email widget open, The im message open and the twitter widget open and it does slow down too much. When I read emails, Then read Sms`s then check twitter, then mess with some games, Use some apps it will get a bit sluggish but by using an app like appkiller you can close the apps down.

Re: HTC HERO Arrived today :D I make full use of the 7 home screens with plenty of widgets and apps etc. I find it does start to slow down if I am doing lots of things and not properly closing apps in between but I now manager it well with taskmanager 1.7 with keeps it running smoothly. I guess its like a PC. If you try having too much open at one time, or try to multi-task beyond your CPU/Memory capabilities, it will of course slow down! I still believe a firmware update will fix the slight lag issues.

Re: HTC HERO Arrived today :D My contract has just ran out, I've already got a SE X1, and I'm not really in need for a new phone at the moment, but these are looking quite tempting! I'll probably wait for a bit, and see what the new xperia offerings are like, I'm not sure that I want to move away from Windows either... Whilst I'm here, has anybody had any problems copying their phone book over to a Parrot Hands-free with their Hero?

Re: HTC HERO Arrived today :D Went to look at one of these today as my contract is up for renewal, i think i am going to get one. So the phone isnt laggy if you use an app to kill the apps youre not using?

Re: HTC HERO Arrived today :D Mine had got a bit sluggish and I found out why. It seems that having a string of over 1000 texts and the text app open causes a bit of slowdown lol
