    HTC build nice smartphones and I'm happy that there is a good alternative to the iphone. Hope they gain some more market share.

    Well, get the Hero

    It's got the same hardware as the Magic, but MUCH nicer looks (and a better OS)

    The only reason to go for the Magic is a desperate need for Vodafone rather than T-Mobile/Orange

    Same hardware hex? have you read any of the reviews? the Hero is BETTER.... 200mhz faster CPU, 5mp rather than 3.2mp camera ...

    Still enjoying mine but I think I have reached the overloading point with regards to widgets as I have experienced slow down quite badly over the last 2 days. Removing and re-organising my home pages tonight and so far the effect of removing just the visual bookmark widget has been huge..

    Pretty sure both phones come with a Qualcomm MSM7200A 528MHz CPU (so does the G1 for that matter).

    You're right about the camera though. Also, the Hero has a nice capacitative touchscreen

    I have had my Hero for about a week now. Still loving it. It is great to find new apps for it, seems like I stumble on something new everyday.

    Only thing I wish was a bit better was the battery life though. So far I have had to charge it every night, where as my old N95 would last at least 2 1/2 days (but that was pushing it).

    My apologies, I had read on another comparitive review that the CPU of the Magic / Dream was a 3** MHZ processor.....

    Anyho, still loving mine, although experienced my first force close of an app yesterday, not that this overly worried me, with an open source os you can't expect every app to be 100% perfect, and it will teach me to read the user reviews more carefully before downloading.

    Loving Wikitude, got that last night and it has amazed me, has loads of local landmarks around me (in Cheltenham), very impressive.

    * USB cable
    * Mains->USB adapter
    * Ear buds which might be a hands-free kit but I didn't look since I can't wear buds
    * 2 gig MicroSD (pre-fitted)

    Well mine finally arived today, wo0p.
    Not had a play yet, stuck it on charge till later
    On my invoice it said "HTC Hero BROWN" I was like.. nooo.. not brown but luckily inside was the graphite version, very nice.

    Ordered a silicone case and some screen protectors on ebay, couldn't find a case I like so I'll just stick with that for now.

    T-Mobile shop refused to give me one on Sunday for an upgrade, stating that they were for new customers only. I went back home, called CS, they said it was rubbish, as did another store I rang.

    Went back into store yesterday lunch time, saw same woman, told her that she had out of date info whist I was in middle of store, said I woudl ring CS there and let her speak to them. aid I called other stores and she was wrong. Was quickly offered the upgrade "just this one time" and ushered to back of store away from customers ears!

    Oh gawd. It's non-sense like this that makes certain sectors within the mobile industry look bad on themselves

    Had a good little play, very impressed thus far..
    Must read the online manual and figure what else I can do with it though!

    Couldn't work out how to close apps either.
