Was thinking about getting an iphone but the more i look at this and your guys thoughts and i think i'm going to get a HTC Hero. What should i do to make it run the best.

Also anyone now which contract is the best as the orange doesn't come with an included internet it seems.
Orange includes 500 meg a month on the £30-a-month-24-month contracts, or costs £5 a month on top of any "lower end" contract

I was looking at getting a touch diamond 2 on orange, what put me off was that if you do go over the 500meg orange charge, most other carriers just warn then cap.

Anyone know about vodafone as i'm quite tempted by this deal on it.

    I think they've got 500mb as well.

They've also got it on tmobile which has 1gb worth of data but less texts. + you have to pay from some of the phone due to it being a shorter contract.

Does anyone roughly know how much data they're using a month. And i assume the phone automaticly switches to wifi when in range.

I've been trying to get it to switch to wifi automatically but I can't seem to figure it out..
Would also be helpful if it connected to the router with the highest signal strength as I've 2 wifi routers, one upstairs and one down.

I don't have a data plan with mine so I've switched all the mobile network options off yet the weather is still updated and displayed with no wifi and no mobile network coverage, confused.

It'll connect to WiFi automatically if you enable WiFi - but it can take a while to connect

You flicked off the mobile data thing? there's a widget for it

I turned everything off (including WiFi), had absolutely no signal and i was inside yet the weather still updates instantly.. I'm guessing it does that all via GPRS?
Odd though as I can't get a Google Maps fix inside but the weather's always there.

Haven't seen that widget, I'll take a look for it.

I can just here the apple advert in my head when you said that

'Want to turn off the mobile data. Theres and app for that'

So the wifi overrides the edge,3g etc when it's connected.

Only irritating thing I've run into is hanging up phone calls
Can you only hang up using the touch screen?
The button on the right hand side that looks like a hung up phone just turns my screen off :/

Someone at work ordered a white Hero in last week, and it does look cool. It's making me quite tempted to buy one for myself, except that my existing smartphone is less than a year old.

    *sighs* the progress of technology!

Went and had a look at one today in town. Didn't have any which i could mess about with so went and asked and he got one out.

Must say it felt nice. Couldn't use the internet so i'll be interested to see the responses to JimmyBoy's question.

My other concern was typing. I don't know if it was because i wasn't really taking care but i found it always get my words right. Can you flip the keyboard sidewards like the iphone as the bloke who was trying to sell it to me had only seen it last week and hadn't had a chance to mess about with it.

I'll see if I can get my webcam working and record some video of the keypad.

Edit: Ok so there seems to be issues with the browser over WiFi in which it hangs for a while..
There's a good few mentions of this on alot of forums too.

How long is everyone getting out of their battery?
I've got about 2 days with WiFi constantly on and alot of playing.
