Re: How to switch 3G on - HTC HERO ??? H is 3G, well more specifically HSPA, which is often called 3.5G as it is an extension to the original 3G data specification. If it is anything like any of the other HTC devices I've used, you will get a little 3G icon there the G or H is when you are on a network that is bog standard 3G. What is the actual message youa re getting? I would suggest contacting Vodafone support directly if you are having issues with their service.

Re: How to switch 3G on - HTC HERO ??? Here is an overview: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-Speed_Packet_Access Up to 14.4mbit technically, though most implimentations max out at 3.6mbit or 7.2mbit design. The chances of getting even half that are pretty low. I think Vodafone's network is a 7.2mbit implimentation.

Re: How to switch 3G on - HTC HERO ??? I don't know what the difference between 3 and 3g would be. But it's basically trying to get the best signal it can on the different sub sets of frequencies and protocals available at any given time. I normally bounce between regular GPRS and HSPA on my Touch Dimond 2 on T-Mobile. My data signal isn't great up here, but calls are absolutly fine. When I'm actually using it as a modem when visiting Glasgow or London, a full signal H connection is superb.
