    HTC Kaiser's keyboard

Is anyone else having problems with it after a lot of use? I am a heavy txter and im approaching the warranty end period and in thinking of sending mine back. 2/3 of the time keys don't respond to be being pressed, and i have to either press 2 or 3 times or press them quite hard before i get a reaction. The likes of the spacebar are the worst for me. This makes txting a total nightmare, my only concern with sending it back is it does seem to happen at random & ringing them i was told they didn't think it was an issue.

Has anyone else had any experience with this on older Kaisers?

it could be the rom itself sometimes, causing keyboard lag. You can get a new housing(including keyboard) on ebay for about £35. You can also try a new rom to see if that speeds it up(check XDAdevelopers for more).

Mine is about 18months old. I use it heavily and you can get the occasional problem but changing roms has helped this for me.

I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

3 ROMs later & still no luck. I think its poor contacts in the keyboard keys. Hopefully HTC repairs wont be difficult over it.

I hath shipped her off to HTC, and will keep you all updated as to what happens, its quite a common issue (whether or nor HTC know/care though..) so it might be of use to someone else.

Got my phone back from HTC and they say water damage, via the hidden top water pad.

How they can relate that to a keyboard which is a bit slow i dont know. Surely the fact the keyboards works, just can be a bit sluggish at random periods can't be down to water damage? I also have no recollection of ever taking the phone near water/ever getting it wet.

    Bit unimpressed there.

My kaiser keyboard started mucking about, it was after I got caught in a shower and the phone became slightly soggy. The water indicator behind the battery activated In my case the symptons were keys remapping to each other, and single keys presses would type several characters, or turn the phone off. I endedu using the on screen keyboard for a while, but a month later the hardware keyboard started working properly again.

have now switched to a touch diamond 2, which is noticeably faster than the kaiser.

Thats my gripe though, everything worked fine, as it should. The keyboard was just a bit sluggish *at times* and on the HTC forums it appeared to be a common problem, put down to dirty/worn out contacts on the underside of the keyboard.

Id put money on it that ''water damage'' had nothing to do with it, but im stuck with the £20 to get my phone back.
