| Re: Another October phone - Nokia N900 BTW no MMS on the phone. Plus some phone type features cannot be done in portrait mode. Apparently this will be rectified in Maemo 6. Plus the battery life isn't as good I hear. |

| Re: Another October phone - Nokia N900 There's often a missing feature or catch that Nokia promise to add in the next model. Hopefully, if Maemo is as open as the above comments suggest, this will only be a temporary set back. |

| Re: Another October phone - Nokia N900 From my understanding it is upgradeable (can't remember where I read this). From doing a quick google I've found that it was possible to upgrade the N800 to the latest OS that came with the N810 so I'd assume the same is possible with the N900. People have also got android and windows 3.1 running on the N810. |

| Re: Another October phone - Nokia N900 Android is a wreck, from a technology standpoint. Oh, sure, I have an Android phone, and it's nice, and it's perfectly usable - but being Open, people have the ability to look under the hood - and under the hood, it's a real mess, certainly when it comes to app porting & development The N900 is closer to a netbook than anything else, and maemo is a more "real" OS. Although for the life of me I don't know why they opted for Firefox's web engine rather than Webkit (Safari/Chrome) |

once we start getting nice powerful phones with big high res screens that run on android, i'll proberly go that route, saying that lets see how i get on with maemo first! maybe, judging by some of the other comments i'll be able to install android on the n900 sometime |

Pay close attention to the PDF slides for technical detail, especially the bits regarding Android's libc Bionic. Also fish around for the benchmarks showing apps written on Mono as 5x faster than those written for the Dalvik VM - and apps in C++ or C as even faster |
