| Very strange IMEI block problem - does Ireland do this?? My friend went to Ireland with a 2year old iPhone, came back and now it says No Service. Did some sort of "CheckMend" phone scan and it reports that "This item is currently blocked on one or more networks". What the...?? Its an original unlocked/jailbroken iPhone 1st gen and she bought it herself, in person, at the 5th Av Apple store, and it hasnt left her sight since. Any idea why a trip to Ireland would make her phone blocked?? |

| Re: Very strange IMEI block problem - does Ireland do this?? it would be worth ringing her mobile networks customer services division. they will be able to tell you who put the block on and why. | Re: Very strange IMEI block problem - does Ireland do this?? I am presuming her phone worked ok in ireland? Receiving calls etc? I would suspect her IMEI has been cloned and is/was being using by someone in Ireland, and the network detected two phones with the same IMEI so blocked it. Either way the only hope is call the network. |

| Re: Very strange IMEI block problem - does Ireland do this?? IIRC, the original unlocked/jailbroken iphones could be rendered unuseable by subsequent software upgrades. Perhaps (and this is only a guess) while in Ireland the software was updated automatically, by the roaming network, and that has locked the phone. As others have said, contavcting the network operator may be the best option, although if you are using the phone on a network that doesn't support the iphone, or one where they don't have an agreement with Apple, you may not get much help. Alternatively, you could try Apple, but again, if it has been modified, you may not get much help there either. Is YOUR system up to Folding?
