Android Donout 1.6 I know it has been in the works for a while now, but it seems I officially got the update this morning for my HTC Magic, and I have to say thus far, I am quite pleased, the phone seems quite a bit faster and the new market look is a big improvment. Anyone else had the update?

Re: Android Donout 1.6 I got the update tuesday morning and noticed it was much faster too. I stopped using the messaging interface in favour for chompsms because the former was so slow, but now its right up to speed again (though it may have been fixed in an earlier version). I like having the power control widget now as I was previously using the 'Useful switches' app which is now broken.

Re: Android Donout 1.6 Ooooh, I wondered what the update that installed itself this morning was! I'll have to have a proper play later and see what's different. So far, it mostly seems to have broken Market (I keep getting a network error while trying to authenticate, apparently ) // // TODO: Add witty signature here //

Re: Android Donout 1.6 only down-side of having a phone with a "skinned" version of Android, i.e. HTC Sense is that they have to re-work their own upgrade for 1.6.... Still I think I can wait as although the new features will be welcomed, I don't think it will worry me for now. Ben

Re: Android Donout 1.6 Well, having used this for a few days now, I have to say, the performance gain is quite significant compared to previous versions, it's still not lightning quick, but none the less, it is quicker. The Market, just seems a lot better also, even though in reality, all that's changed is the looks. The power widget is spot on, perfect. All in all, a good update.

Re: Android Donout 1.6 I'm running the Cyanogen Mod firmware on my Dream. The latest version runs ontop of the cupcake OTA system (they had a take-down notice from Google for distributing the google-branded apps with their ROMs, so they switched to installing the mod ontop of the official updates) Donout defiantly has a faster smother feel to it, and the default theme is less blocky too. But I'd still never go a day without a rooted command line.
