WM6.5 ROMs from HTC? HTC had said in the past that 6.5 upgrades would be available for some of current line up, such as the Touch Diamond 2. Anyone got any more on this? I've been out of the loop for the past couple of weeks so am just trying to catch up. I looked on the HTC site, but there are only hot fixes, no ROM updates, even though there used to be at least one.

Re: WM6.5 ROMs from HTC? Apparently thats a leak of the official ROM, the rumour was that official release would be yesterday. Looks like this run the older version of sense / manila, which is a shame, the ability to have shorcuts on the today screen with sense 2.5 is very handy. I currently run a duty 6.5 with sense 2.5. seems pretty good, would got for a legit rom if they include the latest sense.

Re: WM6.5 ROMs from HTC? I'm going to stick with official ROMs on the TD2. They are very very good as it is, unlike the Kaiser when I got it which had good hardware but a very poor ROM. I think it was one of the last devices before the really good customisations from HTC. The kaiser was also crippled by T-Mobile, unlike the TD2 which is an unlocked HTC unit.

Re: WM6.5 ROMs from HTC? I have a sim free Touch pro 2 and am running the official HTC 6.5 rom. It runs ok, not as expedient as the wm6.1 rom but still ok. I weep for the poor folk who got subsidised handsets from Vodafone! The Voda 6.5 rom still has the grim Voda branding. That red Vodafone touch flo theme is unforgivable! What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...

| Re: WM6.5 ROMs from HTC? Indeed. I've been flashing ROMs for years and community ROMs are so much better. My Touch Diamond 2 is currently running this: http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=580 ..which I can't recommend enough it's really swish ![]() The only 'extra' step is doing hardspl (see link) which is a one-time 'fix' to allow unofficial upgrades. As long as your follow the instructions carefully (i'd recommend flashing from the memory card) you'll be fine and much happier with the result. The sequence is 1. HardSPL 2. flash ROM 3. hard reset Do all that and it works like a charm ![]() In fact, i'm doing it now - as R7 is out and i'm on R6 Te audire non possum. | Re: WM6.5 ROMs from HTC? It isn't really worth trying to speak to orange about upgrades, Last time I did, they didn't have a clue. Took ages for them to finally release the new ROM aswell. You'll be in for a long wait, for the new 6.5 update. I'm so glad now that I've got unlocked HTC Touch Pro 2, simple direct support and upgrades from HTC. |
