    LG 8120 gone haywire

i was writing a memo or something and out of nowhere my LG 8120 froze. So I turned it off and on and the display was, to put it bluntly, f*cked! for example the turning on display was replaced with the turning off display and all the words were misplaced like instead of "menu" written in the normal place for menu it said "relist"! I do have insurance but wondered if there is an easier way to download some kind of debugging program or reset option. I have the software that came with the phone and I have Gthing if that helps.

We get a ton of those LGs come back to 3 everyday, its either the most popular phone or most faulty phone. Probably a mix of both.

    Handling returns is not fun

If he does RMA it, it'll likely go through my hands in the near future

    Do you work for 3?

Is it a software or *real* hardware failure.

(can I ping the one which is sitting in my office via you?)

I work at the company that handles 3's logistics needs.

The way it works is that there are 2 separate stages of returns, Processing and Repairs. Once they go through processing they are 'unlinked' from the customer then go onto repairs which filters out/repairs the phones for refurbishment.

So if you RMA a 3 phone, you wont get the same one back unless it is handled by a 3rd party repair service (MasterCare etc). At 3 they'll simply refund you (or the company you bought it from) the full price of the handset.

So as i dont actually fix the phones or look at the faults i couldnt give you any advice on it.

Did you buy it through a retailer or straight from 3's online order service?

This is like what Orange do with their handsets - but they are atleast a bit clever about it and do a straight swap out.

Apparently 3 didnt even have a returns department setup until quite a while after they launched

We have to use some really quite annoying software too that makes me want to hate programmers

3 are now swapping out the lg handsets with a courier, in some instances even picking it up the same day. I was having nearly 1 a week on average of these lg U8120 handsets coming back!

Contact them on this no to arrange the pick up:

    0870 733 0351.

    Hope this helps.

    Rhyth is selling:
Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di ll LD Aspherical (IF) £230 +pp
    Canon 50mm 1.8 II £50 +pp
    Proven good copies.

Oh right yeah, that explains all our Parceline returns we get through, they are a pain! Please remember to right your order number/RMA number clearly if you have been requested to do so. Its the only thing we have to go by.
