Can anyone give me any tips of the best way to get music and video from my computer to my phone. and does anybody know anything about the Memory card that goes in the back, I did buy a 512mb card which was the same size but it was to thick and would let me put my battery back into it.

You'll probably need the PC Sync software from Nokia, and unless you have Bluetooth on your PC, you'll probably need the DKU-2 data cable. They also do a docking station to go with that, the DCV-14, which you might find convenient - see HERE.

The phone takes an MMC card; was that what you bought, or did you maybe buy an SD card by mistake?

edit: I don't know the phone particularly, but is there a chance that it only takes RS-MMC (reduced size MMC)?

I have 512mb, you MUST get a card reader, they are worth the low price and will save you loads of time since its much much faster than a wireless transfer and cheaper than a datacable.

There is a 1GB card too, all you need to do with music is put all the files into the root directory of the card. You can mess with playlists if you want but sounds like you'd have a hard time since its not the easiest thing to setup.

I hvae just been looking round at a load of sites which document things about this subject, and on one of them it says that that maximum you can have in the nokia is a 128mb card the rest of them are made for cameras.

I think that it holds more than a 128mb if i remember correctly.

My boss has a 1gig card in his 6230 if that helps....

only thing I would say about MP3's is watch the bitrate, push it up to high and when you try to play it off the phone the handset will reboot/switch off, only managed to get 128kbs out of mine so far with limited testing.

No no, Forget using a card reader. If you use a card reader you can't edit/upload playlists. Whats the point in a gig of MP3's if you don't have any playlists? Get onto ebay and get a cable (as low as £5). Next thing is to forget using Nokia suite for MP3 management. It's handy for other things, but simply shocking for manging your music. Get MobiMB, it's well worth the cash. It's 100000000 times faster, easier and supports folders for MP3's (in nokia suite all the mp3's must be in the root directory of the card for playlists to work - a real pain).

What kind of cable do i need and where can i find it for only £5? I have a bluetooth adapter but i hate dealing with it.

Yes, because it's great fun taking the back of you phone, removing the battery, removing the card, uploading you MP3's, putting it all back in the phone again, putting the battery back on, putting the back on, switching it on then plugging the cable on and loading the software everytime you want to upload an MP3.

To be fair, Marco does have a point. Card readers are massively faster so it is handy for that first massive batch you will do when you first the a new phone/card. After that it just to much bother IMO.

Get a card reader, there cheap as anyones business and work fine, there fast, not that fast but a damn sight fast than infrared or bluetooth, if you were filling up 512mb over them, you could soon end up killing yourself, my bluetooth to my nokia transfers at averagly 16.6k a second, lousey ? I think so

You make it sound like a LOT more work than it really is

The reason im so pro-card reader is that my bluetooth is just not well implemented enough. Wish they could make it so smooth it just felt like another drive. Then i wouldnt be so bothered by transfer times.

Your quite right, the bluetooth is terrible - slow and unstable. It was driving me insane and and i had to give up on it. I think a cable is the best way to go overall.

Can't wait till i am due an upgrade and get rid of my 6230. The money i will get for it on ebay should pretty much buy me a Sony HD1/3 mp3 player.
