    Connecting PDA to car stereo...

Anyone ever done this or know how to do it? Would be good to be able to stream mp3s/video sound/navigation sound though the car speakers.

I don't want something which hardwires the PDA into the car as I still want to be able to use it in the house etc...

you can use the auxilery connector on the back of your stereo, if it hasnt got one, then it is possible to use the "phone" connectors that so many stereos have (for using for speakerphones) Other than this the best ways to do it are using a fm transmitter that plugs into the headphone socket of your PDA, then can be picked up on your car radio.

You could use a tape adaptor as well. As long as your PDA has a standard headphone socket

I tried my PDA through my head unit's aux input once, it's quite nice to have the GPS navigation details SHOUTED at you through the car's speakers

There are ipod kits that (i think) basically just plug into the headphone jack and send a radio signal that you can tune in.

Something like that (sorry its a yank link).

I use a tape adapter plugged into the headphone socket on an Axim, and that sounds fine.

I got a CD player so the tape adaptor is no use.

Looks like the FM thingy is my best bet...

I heard they are illegal though

I think the strength they kick out is a little on the high side for uk laws, that link says they only ship to the us and its only for use in the us, so maybe a little on the "grey" side

It's quite funny if you've made a wrong turn and while it's processing a new route it's shouting "Turn around." "Turn around." constantly... Even though you're driving down a dual carriageway or something
