| So my contract is coming to an end, when to cancel it? It is going to expire on 29th May 2005, when should i call so that i can cancel it as soon as possible and revert to PAYG? I only got the contract to get the handset for free so i'm looking to only stay on it as long as i have to. How does this work? Do i call on the 29th of April or May? |

| Had one hell of a job with O2 getting them to cancel mine this month. I had already purchased a replacement contract from O2 Online and they were both playing off each other for my custom (as they are run as seperate companies as I soon realised). In the end I had to get very blunt with the O2 fella for him to give me the address where you have to send a cancellation letter. Made enough money off me in calls though HEXUS|iMc |

| Yeh start soonish. All in all it took me 5 days to sort it out:- I ordered the new phone/contract, email telling me out of stock, fair enough I'll wait. Rang up O2 cancel old one, got told I was better staying with them, offered me better contract etc. etc. they said they could send me same phone as ordered when in stock. I refuse but say I will ring back when I've cancelled the other one so I can get a better offer. Ran up O2 online to cancel the order i just put in. They said ok. Will send email when done. Next day new phone/O2 Online contract arrived. I'm like 'WTF, thought it was out of stock'?! Ring up O2 to cancel old contract again as I have now received a new one and a new phone. They say no go, you've already agreed to a new contract with us. I say no I haven't, but apparently the bloke I was speaking to the first time around changed my old contract to a new tariff (the better deal I was offered). So I'm sitting there with two 'new' contracts in my name, I explain I don't need two just one so cancel one of them. Get told they can't cancel Online contract, 'WHY' i think. slowly realise they work as two seperate companies. Tell them that at the end of the day the money is going to the same place, just cancel my old god damn contract. They get the point and give me the address. Phew... buggers. HEXUS|iMc |

| I went back to PAYG on Orange, and I had to call them a month in advance, so just check it and get it done on time. | yep, i know o2 and orange both ask for a months notice. You can just tell them over the phone, but it a bit cheeky if you ask me given that it a 12 month contract. Even after 12, 13, 14 months etc you still need to give them 28 days. I did once get Orange to back down, but you need to be prepared to moan hard! | www.delta-retail.co.uk | It depends entirely on the network ![]() 02 are generally regarded as one of the worst for cancelling (ignoreing 3 here, they are on another level of bad service) so be prepared to fight with o2..but if its orange or vodafone then you should have no trouble. With each network i just phoned up a month in advance just to be sure, they tried to persuade me to stay by offering my a free handset upgrade etc but just say no, explain your going onto PAYG and they will just cancel it automatically at the end of the 12 months Mac Pro, 2x Quad core 2.8ghz Xeon, 512mb 8800GT, 4gb DDR2 FB-Dimm Macbook, 1.8ghz Core Duo, 2GB Ram, Superdrive iPhone 2G 2.0.1 "Is it a coincidence that an anagram of gordon brown is "born do wrong" ?, I rest my case. |
