| Setting up POP would be the best option. But there is also a java app available if your phone does not have a proper POP email client. I don't think gmail is accessable via WAP, but i believe they are working on a WAP interface. I'm suprised they have not done so already. |

| i was looking at this website http://www.gmailwireless.com/ but its not actually affliated with google, and i dont really want to give my username/password to a random company...:S when i got to gmail.com on WAP it doesnt actually show the side of the page where you log in, so i guess it isnt set up for phones... bit of a shame. | XP1600-m | ASUS AN78X Deluxe | r9700 pro | 2x512mb pc37000 | |

| Accessing proper websites on a mobile is not only a pain on the small screen, limited browser and slow connection, but it's also very expensive due to the way the mobile networks charge normal users data usage. Has your phone got an email application, like the 6230 etc, in the messages section? If it has you can set this up to get your Gmail. Just like in Outlook etc, enter the Gmail server settings;
Otherwise a WAP portal would be the only other viable way. That said, even if/when they do provide one, using a proper POP client would be better anyway. |

| Thanks for the help dom, i have entered those details in the in-built email client. However, when i go to "retrieve" it logs onto GPRS, and i get Gmail (where the website is) then a little box below; i cannot do anything on this screen. Then a minute or 2 later it says that it couldnt not retrieve. POP is enabled in gmail Any idea what is causing this? Will. | XP1600-m | ASUS AN78X Deluxe | r9700 pro | 2x512mb pc37000 | |

| if it's anything like my old 6230, it's a settings issue. Basically if you have an active GPRS connection ('G' symbol in the top left corner of the screen) when you go to retrieve you know the phone GPRS settings are okay. The screen you are seeing next shows the connection name (gmail) and the long box at the bottom is a progress bar which will fill to the right as your email is downloaded to the phone. As the progress bar is staying empy there is obviously a settings problem. Nokia are still quite basic regards email and often don't give you any kind of error message, they just sit on that screen with an empty progress bar before timing out to a general error message. I have had exactly the same problems as you, it's just a setting somewhere. Nokia's email client settings are a little fiddly and there are some settings which are important that are a bit hidden. It took me a while to get my Yahoo and Gmail working but it was great when it did for basic emailing. Go to the Gmail help pages and getting all the settings. There are more than the ones I listed above, that was an example of what you need to be putting in to get you started.

| What network are you with? I know T-Mobile will let you set up a POP3 account so it forwards teh messages to your phone as texts. Try changing the security settings, Gmail requires secure log in for their POP servers i belive, They also use non-standard ports, make sure you had that changed, (try url ort if theres no option for to change the port.) |
