Unhappy SE K750i file manager and software problems

Right, i have been trying to find a fix for this all day. As anyone will know by reading my other posts, this is a great little phone. However, the same can't be said for the PC suite that comes with it. It's absolutely terrible. It's so bad, it's almost insulting.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled countless times. I have also downloaded the latest software from Sony's support site. I am hoping that as this phone is/going to be so popular, someone might have an answer (just a clue would be nice). Maybe the problems I am having have been problems on other SE models which someone has found a fix for?

Fortunately, the phone appears as a removable drive in Windows Explorer and I can add/remove MP3's, photo's etc from the memory stick. So the drivers seem to be working but the File Manager program won't see my phone...

But it gets worse, this is the error I get when trying to run the MMS composer app...

Still worse, look what happens when I try and sync my phone with my PC...

Ok, what about the network wizard then...

But the strange thing is that the network wizard then opens with this message at the bottom...

But surely the simple image editor will work...

    FFS!

This is just a joke. What a steaming pile of ****! I am not alone with these problems, but I will be damned if i can find a solution anywhere. Damn Sony and there bug ridden crap. Stinks of Sonic Stage all over again.

    Any idea's people?

A couple of things to check:

    a) Was the software installed using a local Administrator account?
    b) Did you disable anti-virus during install?

Update : None of the above worked but thanks anyway Taz. It looks like the SE software is a complete mess and very buggy. From what I can gather from other forums, it makes a real mess of your registy which it does not clear out when unistalling. If it will work on your system is a complete lottery (some people say it work's better over BT than USB too).

For people getting or thinking of getting a K750i, don't panic. You can still upload photo's, MP3's and install games etc by just dragging and dropping into the correct folders on the memory card, which appears as a removable disk drive.

I highly recommend getting Floats Mobile Agent (http://fma.sourceforge.net/index2.htm) for sending SMS via your PC, syncing with outlook and managing you phone book etc. I works great and is probably better than SE PC Suite anyway.

And if you don't have a K750i, buy one now!

May work on another PC, like I said it's a bit of a lottery. Unfortunately I need to use my PC, so its rather academic if I can get it to work on other PC's or not.

Do some searching on google. Many people have been the same problems with the K700i and other models.

Hi Dom, I'm having exactly the same problems as you, I'm having a look around for anything that might, if I find something I'll post back here as I know it's so frustrating having such an excellent phone and then the equivalent of a hamster chewing a sock on your computer! I had the same problems with the file manager I was given with my SE T610, phone was great, software was pants. Hopefully they'll sort themselves out soon!

Tried that with no joy. But i don't think it's a driver issue anyway, at least i don't think it is because everything is ship shape in device manager and it works well as a removable drive. Also some other non-Sony software works fine.

Lazy ass developers really annoy me.

It's not as though the tools aren't there for doing proper installs/uninstalls.

Go to the SE sight there is an update for those with these issue's

I myself had no issues with it apart from now I am getting the not connected issue. This seems to happen if you have connected the phone to the usb to charge the battery and then you use the remove hardware option and connect it again it wont find it. Annoying but waiting a few mins then adding it again seems to get round it.

I have just one problem with the software, when i connect my phone the file manager will sometimes not recognise the phone. I have to unplug it and plug it in again before its recognised but windows explorer will recognise it even when file manager won't :S

yeah, i find I have to plug in/out a couple of times for windows to recognise its there. I find a good firm shove as the usb cable goes in helps...no point pussy-footing around, get it in there!
