    Just ordered a K750i - bluetooth qestions!

hi guys, just got an upgrade to a K750i - i have no experience of Bluetooth, i herd this is the best way to transfer files and not to bother with cables - what Bluetooth adapter should i get as my shuttle computer does not have Bluetooth.

Also is it true you can use it to turn up and down your music player on your pc?

Yes Bluetooth is definately the way to go.. There is no longer a need for cables.

I don't currently have a K750i, but have a K700i. Any USB Bluetooth adapter will do, just find a decent cheap one, they all will do the job, especially if you have XP SP2 as you just use the inbuilt Bluetooth software.

Yes it is true that on the K700i there are built in HiDs which allow you to control Power Point Presentations, Media Players and Your Desktop.. (just basic controls. But works very well!)

So the answer to your question will be Yes. It works well, and you just connect to your computer through your phone, and on your screen the controls appear. Like play, pause, stop, Volume up - down...etc.

Something like THIS will suffice. Take a look, they have many on there.

Yes, with SP2 for Windows XP nearly any bluetooth adapter will work very well. Buying a cheap one shouldn't be a problem.

If you intend to buy a larger memory card for your phone and use it as an mp3 player, then I would suggest buying a memory card reader or data cable. Bluetooth is fine for syncing contacts but can be very slow if you want to transfer large files.

Seriously, not every BT adapter works well with XP SP2, and not all are natively supported. See http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;841803 for details.

Well you can browse other peoples phones and look at all their images, sounds, movies.. etc.!.. And easily just transfer any items you want, this can be done through pairing two devices. Although some phones like Motorolas don't require the person to accept and some don't allow this service..

You can send messages (and contacts) to other mobiles, also known as 'Bluejacking'. Basically you can transfer most* multimedia items between other bluetooth enabled mobiles. Which is a very handy tool for images, sounds, funny movies etc.

As mentioned you can synchronise your phone with your computer, and create backups of contacts etc. You can use your phone as a remote, with certain software/hardware (although this feature is already built into the mobile..It can be expanded with 'Sony-Ericsson' hardware.)

*some are restricted due to copyright, for example if you download from your operators wap page..

Lots of people seem to think bluetooth is faster than a USB connection. Remember, in theory this is true, but if it is a USB device it will only be as fast as the USB port.

Personally I prefer to use a cable. I just have it sitting on my desk and plug my phone in without messing with runing bluetoohn on etc. But it is nice and if I good a bluetooth dongle for free I would use it.
