    TomTom 5 on PDA?

    Hi,

I've got TomTom 3 on my iPaq, and was just wondering if it was worth paying the the TomTom5 £39 (well, 59 euros) upgrade price. The full postcode support feature is the one that interests me most. Also, can you use the POIs compatible with TT3? I've got a load of POIs that i've downloaded from various places.

I too am wondering this, for the full postcode search, I think thats pretty good.

There is also more features such as a traffic watch feature built in.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to do this.

    It is Inevitable.....

I didn't notice full post codes on my version of TT5.

    When I search, it says things like WS1 4, or LS6 5

Is that what you mean by full postcodes?

    Flibb's system
You can add full postcode search to the older versions of TT, theres a free download that you need to install to get it. Have a look on the pocketgpsworld website.

im using TT5 with full postcode lookup, you have to "fix" tomtom 5 yourself to have full 7 digit lookups.

    its quite buggy, but works.

When you say "fix" do you mean 3rd party software? Surely by default TT5 doesn't have 7 digit postcode support?

The Mobile (phone) and Go versions of TT5 do, according to reviews.

I've just checked my PDA - TomtTom5 definitely has 7 letter postcode support - you just have to select the postcode option under the navigate menu.

I've just upgraded from 3 to 5 and I'm impressed. Route planning is much faster, the animation of maps (e.g. zooming in/out) is smoother judging by demo mode, and you get loads of CDs full of maps (though I haven't installed any - maybe you need to enter more serial codes? I hope not, I'm sure I read they were included.)

But postcode searching is definitely not 7 character by default, at least not in London. How do you enable it?

To do 7 character postcode searches You have to go to 'Navigate To...' > 2nd Page > Postcode.

    davidstone28 already pointed this out
