New contract but keep old phone

    Hi guys'n'gals

After T-mobile realised they'd left me on a rather nice employee deal over 18 months since I left my part-time MSc-funding shop monkey role, I'm now left looking for a new mobile contract (well actually two!) but there's nothing out there that I'm yet prepared to pay for over my P900. So, I'm thinking of doing the old 'packet-splitting' and getting either a really good cash-back deal and a really crappy phone that I can shift or a decent phone to sell on with no hassle about returning bills every three months to get money back.

So, looking for one contract of between 750 and 1000 minutes off-peak that will be used mainyl to call T-mobile and one contract about 200 minutes x-net. So far I've seen really good deals on the Orange M500 at OneStop on both Orange YP200 and the Orange 1000 X-net off-peak, where the total cost over the year is £240 and £260 respectively. Alternatively there's a W800i offer for £225 minimum-term cost. Do these seem like good deals, and can anyone suggest better deals and approximate prices I'd expect to be able to get for selling these phones on? If Vaul/Stewart doesn't mind, can someone suggest a decent forum where I could put a phone up for sale?

    Ta

    Z

Orange shops are doing half price line rental for the first six months on standard your plan tariffs.

And you can get a £50 for any old phone you can dig out or a drawer.

O2 Online do SIM only deals with double minutes. It's £25/month for 1000 x-net off-peak minutes and 1000 texts.

There's also no minimum contract period with these deals.

What I'm trying to do here is sell on any phone I get for signing up to a 12-month contract and use that to offset the line rental.

For example yesterday (but not today ) OneStop were doing a Sony W800i on YP200 at £30 a month with 9 month's half price line rental on a 12 month contract.

    So cost for the year = 9 x £15 + 3 x £30 = £225
W800s have been going for £250+ online, so I'd be looking at covering my costs at least.

This would work out far cheaper over 12 months than the O2 sim-only deal.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a deal that could beat that one and what phones would be easy to sell on and fetch a fair price for. Anyone know a good price for an Orange M500?

Thats what I am trying to do. Use my current phone and sell the new one.
I was looking at the W800i too.
Cheapest I have found so far is Free, 12 month contract, 200 xNet, 100 TXT, and a 3 month promo which has double minutes and text and insurance free. £30 pm.

If I get the phone unlocked, does if affect the waranty? Its on orange at the mo...

If you get Orange to unlock it then it doesn't affect your warranty.

If you get it unlocked by anyone else then your warranty is void.

Did you actually phone up the customer services and check or did you go off what someone on a forum told you?
